Face Discoloration

I'm an almost 42yr old woman that has very fair & freckled skin. As I'm aging, I'm having to wear primers, concealers & foundation. The problem is that my face is becoming discolored or unevenly toned. People make comments about it & think that I have some kinda disorder. Can anyone relate & recommend what I can use to fix/help the issue? I really hate to wear all this face makeup especially bc it doesn't look natural.

Re: Face Discoloration

@SapphireEyes82 What kind of discolouration are you experiencing? There’s a few different ways to deal with discolouration but it depends on what the cause is. Have you seen a doctor or dermatologist to figure out the underlying cause?

Niacinamide can help with hyperpigmentation and freckles. There are serums you can add to your skincare routine. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum for Oily Skin and The INKEY List Niacinamide Oil Control Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL are a few options. This may or may not work, depending on what’s causing your discolouration.

Another thing you can try is colour correction. Whatever colour your discolouration is, you apply the opposite colour over it to neutralize it. For example, a bluish tint can be neutralized by applying something peachy-orange. Green with red-pink, purple with yellow. Essentially, you pair colours that are on opposite sides of the colour wheel. Then apply your foundation over top. You shouldn’t need to apply much foundation over top afterwards.
