Eye Cream

I'm trying to up my skincare game and would like to find an eye cream. When I had a perk facial the SA put the Ole Henriksen banana bright eye cream on me and I've heard good things, so I got a sample. I love the color correction and brightening. But it seems marketed towards brightening and not toward fighting fine lines. Does that product help fine lines as well?

If I need something else, I'm wondering if I should buy a 2nd eye cream for in the evening and use both. Or is there a better product out there that does both? I'd rather use only one as eye creams are expensive. Or should I be targeting the fine lines with a serum?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I always get good advice on BIC and i know there are many here who know a LOT about skincare. Thanks in advance guys!

Re: Eye Cream

@sprocketta I’ve ditched creams altogether and only use DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serumand KORA Organics Noni Glow Radiant Eye Oil .34 oz / 10 mL . The DDG serum will help with fine lines because of the acids in it while Kora will plump them up instantly and keep them hydrated allllll day. I don’t have crow’s feet, but I do have a few fine lines that used to really bother me. They are no longer there. I still own C-Tango, Banana Bright and The Pearl but haven’t reached for them in a couple months cause I haven’t felt the need. It’s a bummer because they’re so expensive but don’t do anything spectacular, IMO.

Re: Eye Cream

@sprocketta Eye creams are often very expensive - which is unfortuante.  I rec going on beautypedia and searching under "best of" for eye creams and finding one in the price range you are looking for.  As for fine lines, I personally think retinol is best for that.  I use Retin-A, but don't tolerate it well around the eye area.  I started using FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum 0.25% Pure Concentrate

which is a good starting dose of retinol.  If you begin slowly and moisturize, it should be a smooth transition.  It is a little spendy, but a bottle lasts a long time when I only use it around the eye area, nasolabial folds and jawline.  I am now ready to move onto OBAGI CLINICAL - Retinol 0.5 Retexturizing Cream

Also, here's an interesting piece from beautypedia about eye creams:

Re: Eye Cream

Thanks for this @greeneyedgirl107

RE: Eye Cream

So, I say this as a 40 year old with ZERO crow’s feet or fine lines around my eyes.... the key is prevention! The best bang for your buck is Origins A Perfect World SPF 20 Age Defense Eye Cream with White Tea. It has that sun protection factor you need to actually prevent those fine lines, as well as light reflecting pigments to brighten. I got the banana cream, too, as it’s so buzzy, but Origins is still better. As far as ridding yourself of the current lines, see how far the retins will take you (I like Luna) but honestly, we all reach a point where Botox becomes the only real option.

RE: Eye Cream

BIOSSENCE!!!!

Re: RE: Eye Cream

@Kitty1990 What's the product name?  Thanks!

Re: Eye Cream

@sprocketta  Personally I use 2 eye creams one in the morning and a different one in the evening. It sucks because they are so expensive but I find they last me forever. I have some fine lines not bad ones but enough I have been trying to make them disappear and my fav night cream is  Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex 0.5 oz/ 15 mL

ive tried so many and for me I find it is the best. My second fav night cream is SHISEIDO - Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream

i like it but sometimes it makes my eye water a little. Nothing big but the Estée Lauder is my fav and for morning creams I love  Tatcha The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment Moonlight

o find it helps with a little concealing and it’s also helped brighten my eyes making it look like I have gotten more sleep than I actually have. Hope you find something that works for you 🙂

Re: Eye Cream

Thanks @ather I had seen that Estee Lauder product mentioned somewhere. I also know nothing about Shiseido products so I will look at that as well. Your input helps!

Re: Eye Cream

Thanks @naturalooks15 Do products like this prevent fine lines or only help the appearance of those that are there?  Sorry if that's a stupid question, I just don't know.

Re: Eye Cream

@sprocketta  I do think the DE products are preventative and not just 'temporarily make it look better' kind. They have very good ingredients (peptides, gentler Vit C) and avoid harmful ingredients.  I am not young any more 🙂  and do feel my undereye area is not a problem area because of these products. I started using eye cream only since last year or so C-Tango came out, before that I sued to just take me skincare up to my eyes but ingredients in this one plus increasing number in my age were compelling enough factors for me to start using a dedicated eye cream.

Re: Eye Cream

Thanks @naturalooks15  I'm interested in that eye cream as well but it's just so expensive. I know investing in your skin is worth it though.

Re: Eye Cream

@sprocketta  if you are not ready to buy a separate eye cream yet, If you are using any DE moisturizers (Protini, B-Hydra, Lala) you can take those up to your under eye area. I have done that and DE used to recommend it (old posts/ article). I can't vouch for other creams as it will depend on ingredients. DE does not have anything harmful so those are ok near the under eye

Re: Eye Cream

@sprocketta I love KORA Organics Noni Glow Radiant Eye Oil .34 oz / 10 mL

and DRUNK ELEPHANT - Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum.

They are both very hydrating and I think they are definitely improving my eye area.

Re: Eye Cream

@faeriegirl I've been looking at the DE eye cream and serum, but not sure I can bring myself to spend that much.

Re: Eye Cream

Hi @sprocketta ! We might have different skin types: I’m generally dry everywhere but my oily nose, and very dry under my eyes. Since you’ve seen me in person 🙂 you already know I have fine lines and deeper wrinkles under my eyes. I’ve never used the OH Banana Bright cream, so I can’t say whether or not it targets lines. But generally, for lines I recommend a moisturizing eye cream that’ll plump the skin (theoretically filling/smoothing lines in the process), and maybe an eye serum that targets lines.

The eye serum I’m currently using for lines and overall under-eye texture is DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum . It’s working well so far. My fine lines aren’t gone*—I haven’t used this stuff long enough for those results, and I honestly don’t expect those results from anything in a jar/bottle—but they’re slowly diminishing, and I haven’t noticed any new lines. I use this serum in the morning after toning my face.

I also use 2 eye creams in the morning. Seems like overkill, sure, but my dry skin needs them. 😂 The first cream is a Lancôme one that Sephora doesn’t sell; it targets lines and deeper wrinkles. I used to use only this cream, until last year when I stopped so I could test a bunch of others. I’ve reincorporated it, but I’m trying to permanently phase it out of my routine because it’s heavily scented and pills a lot. Plus, this cream’s not moisturizing enough on its own so I need a second one over it. I’m hoping the DDG serum ends up doing enough that I can drop this eye cream. I’ll know in another 2 weeks.

The second eye cream is BELIF - Moisturizing Eye Bomb. This stuff is very moisturizing and plumps up my hollow tear troughs a bit, reducing the appearance of fine lines and lifting my dark areas a bit (caused by hollow skin). But it doesn’t do as much for my deeper lines as the Lancôme cream does; otherwise, I’d use only this cream. Still, I love this stuff. It’s the one I apply multiple layers of, if my skin needs it that morning.

Atop those morning skincare layers, I add tinted sunscreen. We should all use sunscreen anyway, but it’s especially important if you use retinol or acids. (I exfoliate at night with AHA and occasionally BHA peels.) The sunscreen does a tiny bit of color correction. I still put concealer over it sometimes. 😄

My nighttime serum is the same one I use all over my face. I apply the Lancôme eye cream over it. Once that’s absorbed, I top it with  KORA Organics Noni Glow Radiant Eye Oil .34 oz / 10 mL . For me, this oil is very moisturizing and plumping. I’d use it during the day if my eyes weren’t weirdly sensitive to it.

*Caveat: The only thing that’ll remove deeper set lines, and completely erase fine lines, is an injectable filler. I’m not willing to do that for various reasons, so I just accept my deeper wrinkles. I’m not trying to erase them, just soften them a bit so concealer doesn’t fall so deeply into them.

Hope some of this helped!

Re: Eye Cream

@WinglessOne  How long have you been using DDG eye serum? Would love to hear your thoughts when you think you have used it long enough.

I read about it here on multiple posts recently and a SA (wonderful elderly lady) raved about this and the IPL in a bottle product and had me intrigued.

Re: Eye Cream

@naturalooks15  I bought the DDG serum last month but wasn’t using it nearly as consistently as I should, thanks to a couple rounds of illness. I’m now on week 2 of consistent use, though I’ve only used it in the mornings. Now that I’m less nervous about overusing this serum (because of the retinol) and haven’t had a bad reaction to it, I’ll also start using it at night. Then I’ll give it another 2 weeks before I do a thorough review.

Meanwhile, my finer lines do seem to be fading a bit. The more noticeable change is that my under-eye skin feels less crepey than usual: when I run a finger under one eye, the skin’s not as loose as it was. That’s impressive for 1.5 weeks of once-daily use. I’m not sure it’s doing much for my under-eye darkness yet, but we’ll see how it does with more time and twice-daily use.

I haven’t done much research on the IPL serum. I do have hyperpigmentation and wonder if that stuff would work. But the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks has significantly decreased with the last 2 or 3 weeks, and I’m convinced it’s because I’ve been exfoliating more frequently with the DDG peels—especially since adding the extra strength daily peel once or twice a week. I really didn’t expect dark patch reduction as a result of these peels, so I was shocked when I noticed it yesterday morning. 😂

Re: Eye Cream

@WinglessOne  So you are using IPL serum as well? Or just the peels?

Re: Eye Cream

@naturalooks15  No, I’m not using IPL. I haven’t even looked into it much yet. 🙂 I’m just using the peels and love them.
