Extreme sensitive skin

I have a number of allergies.  My biggest allergies are any fragrance (perfume) and decyl glucoside.  I'm also fairly sensitive to essential oils.  I have combination skin with some texture issues.  I'd love any suggestions.  TIA

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

Hi @SassySarahRose, I have sensitive skin and have not had any issues with Belif Moisturizing Bomb or Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream (which I use in the winter because my skin gets even more dry now).  Pai Skincare is also a great brand for sensitive skin. I've used their eye cream, facial oils and moisturizer.  Gentle, no fragrance and geared toward sensitive skin.  You can purchase their products online or if you go to their website, you can see if there's a retailer near you that stocks their products.

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

I'm convinced anything by Dr. Jart+ works for dry sensitive skin.  My sister swears by it as well.

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

I also have extreme allergies similar to yours and I have been trying couple of different products one at a time to understand what suits me and it has been a struggle. The gentlest I have found is Cetaphil though it is not very moisturizing for dry skin during winters so I am also looking for an alternative.  I tried Drunk Elephant (got rashes), trying Fresh Rose Cream and Lotus Cream(it is light but for some reason doesn't suit me), Ultra Repair Cream(doesn't suit me) and I am currently trying samples of Belief Moisturizing Bomb which seems to be okay for my skin. At night, I use Laniege water sleeping mask, that suits me great.  Drugstore brands like Cerave, Aveeno etc does not suit me. Coconut oil when used sparingly on skin suits me (I apply, let it be for 10 minutes, then I remove with towel). Dr Jarts face masks are also great till now. I guess its all about testing and trying with sensitive skins.

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

HIGHLY second Cerave moisturizing cream. I also have super sensitive skin and avoid fragrance. It's super basic but great at moisturizing. It's not the most cosmetically elegant (a touch hard to spread), but I always keep a backup of just in case I have a skin reaction to trying something new.

I personally didn't really have great luck with First Aid Beauty and Kiehl's, even though they are fairly basic. I had mild irritations so I stopped using them. Once your skin stabilizes somewhat, Drunk Elephant Lala cream might be worth a try though!

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

Brands I'd go for with your situation: Cetaphil and CeraVe for budget-friendly (actually The Ordinary falls into the cheaper category as well), and First Aid Beauty otherwise (they don't use fragrance, dyes, etc.  Specific products would depend on your skin types but so far I haven't found a dud in that bunch aside from the First Aid Beauty anti-redness serum which only started setting my skin off after I got sick and had to start a medication regimen.  The Ordinary is good but I've only tried a few of their products so I'd check their ingredients first, though they seem to avoid added fragrance and such.

RE: Extreme sensitive skin

I really love the Kheil’s brand. I have skin that absolutely is destroyed my almost anything else. If you go to a Kheil’s counter the associates can really help you find the best products for your skin.

Are you looking for specific products like cleansers or moisturizers? I'm in the same boat after developing multiple sensitivities to various essential oils after using them professionally for years (user error). I suggest looking for lines that are fragrance-free like Drunk Elephant, as well as avoiding ingredients extracted from essential oils like limonene, geraniol, citronellal, etc., especially in leave-on products. I still can't pinpoint exactly what I react to, but some reactions will cause my skin to crawl for days.

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

I also have very sensitive skin.  I'm a First Aid Beauty fan all the way.  It's the most affordable option I've found that doesn't irritate my skin, but still actually gets it clean.  In terms of makeup, I've had success with Laura Mercier.  But with so many choices, I think the right makeup would be a bit of trial and error to see what works for you personally.

RE: Extreme sensitive skin

I have super sensitive skin too and the FAB facial cleanser and Ultra Repair Cream work great. To deal with under eyes, texture, and all that stuff I use products from Lancôme's Énergie De Vie line.

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

I really love the Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream from Fresh. All their products tend to be gentle. Many of them do have a slight cucumber scent, so that might be better to stay away from if that would bother you. I think they do have some unscented products.

The Drunk Elephant Whipped Cream Creme Fouetee is unscented and gentle. Clinique tends to make products without scents. Their three step system doesn't have any scents. First Aid Beauty also a lot of products geared towards sensitive skin.

When I was on accutane (and had extremely sensitive skin), Ahava's day and night creams saved me.

I truly think I'm the only person who can't use Fresh Soy cleanser. Nothing on the ingredient list stands out, but I used a sample for a few days & each time it burned & I turned beet red.

Re: Extreme sensitive skin

There is a one perfume called Clean, do some research on this one. If you are talking makeup look into tarte and bareminerals.
