Essence Help

Recently purchased the Kiehl’s Iris Activating Treatment Essence. I was reading the “how to use,” and it says to apply before regular skincare routine. I usually use Glossier’s solution toner. This is my first time using an actual “essence.” The Glossier solution says apply before regular skincare as well. My question is do I use that or the Kiehl’s essence first? Or choose one or the other? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

I do the Korean 10 step method so Double cleanse (cleansing balm/oil), regular cleanser, toner (it balances ph and make sure u remove any leftover makeup and dirt), essence (helps hydrate and next steps apply better), serums/ampoules, sheet mask, moisturizer, eye cream. That my nightly but I mix other stuff in that I like such as oils.

Part of that will depend on the function of the toner, and really, just playing with both a few different ways and seeing what you like best.

I'm not familiar with the Glossier toner, but for me and my routine, a toner is used to remove any leftover cleanser or spots I missed while rinsing, and get my first little kick of acid (mine is a glycolic toner). I then go in with my essence layers to prep for the rest of my products.

If yours is more of a moisture toner, you could do a few layers of each if you are doing 7 Skin, or just whatever combo and order feels best to you. ☺️

The Glossier solution is an exfoliant toner. And I figured the essence could be applied after that. Thanks for replying ! ☺️
