Epiduo Forte!):

I started Epiduo on 12/23 to help with my acne. Today is 12/29 and my skin is super dry especially on my chin. I was told to use it nightly by my dermatologist. It stings everytime I put moisturizer and I’ve been flaking a lot too . It even hurts if I open my mouth too wide being that dry. Can somebody recommend what I should do or use? 😞 Also if you’ve used it before how long does it take to see improvement in your skin?

RE: Epiduo Forte!):

I wasn’t on Epiduo but I was on dermatologist prescribed benzoyl peroxide for acne. I had to watch the products that I used. My skin was very very sensitive and reactive to anything when using this. I washed using drunk elephant beste cleanser and I would use the Dr Jart Ceramidin Liquid Moisturizing toner. It helps with the moisture and the barrier of the skin. It’s meant for those with dry/flaking skin, and it helps the skin absorb the next product. Then I would put on the Benzyol peroxide. I would follow it with a scent free moisturizer. The Belif Aqua Bomb or the Moisturizering Bomb. Both are good and inexpensive. If you have the budget drunk elephant Protini or LaLa whip worked even better and helped repair it faster. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t handle it. I had to get off. I got a good regimen of cleansing, double cleansing on makeup days (no wipes) using an oil/balm then cleanser, the TARTE knockout toner, DE CFirma (any good vit C serum) during day, DE Glycolic Tlc serum (AHA/BHA SERUM) alternating with Prescription Retin-A 0.5% at night, a hyaluronic acid serum/ceramide product and usually DE Protini, Belif Aqua Bomb, with a drop or two of DE Marula oil depending on my skins needs. Also, I will use a high percentage glycolic mask like the REN or the ordinary 30% peel (it’s a red liquid) or the DE baby Sakura facial, or a clay/charcoal mask at least once during the week to keep pore really clear. The Peace Out acne healing dots have helped out a lot. They reduce the size and redness over night. A 5 day zit is now a 2 day zit. Also maybe you can just get on the Differin/Adapalene gel. I think it’s over the counter now. Benzoyl worked but it wrecked my skin and not in the way retinA does. Prescription Retin A has the purge and dry period but you can usually find the right mix of products and strength of Retin A to get the clearing effect and have your face moisturizered after a little while. With the Benzoyl, it dried me out totally and even with the gentle hydrating products it was immediately irritated and stinging. It was just the least stinging with those. And I tried a jillion things. If Sephora made it I tried it. My doctor said some people have not an allergy but a severe sensitivity to it that no matter what they use the skin flares up and stings and is red and flakey and hurts. But the products I mentioned were the ones that helped the most!!! And when contact was made it stung for a second. The benefits didn’t outweigh the side effects. I got good results with Retin A. Took a little longer but my face is now where I want it and I only use it twice a week and use my AHa/BHA acid serums the other days to maintain. Good luck! 🍀

RE: Epiduo Forte!):

Thank you so much ! I’ll keep all that in mind . I stopped using Epidou Forte for one night, last night , and I woke up still with my skin super flakey but it not longer hurts to put on moisturizer. I will try the drunk elephant products you recommend & the moisturizer and probably just put on the Epidou every other night. Again thank you so much!

Re: RE: Epiduo Forte!):

I also am using epiduo forte.  The lotion that helps me cut the sting back is the kiehl's ults facial cream.  Its cheaper then drunk elephant.  Drunk elephants lotions (all of them) caused more irritation to my skin.

Good luck 😞
