Dry Skin Primer??

Any recommendations for dry/textured skin?? I have been looking for a primer, Love porefessional for pores, but it dries out the rest of my face and does not change the texture 😞

Re: Dry Skin Primer??

My dehydrated and dry skin likes following primers:

  • First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer (this one has "light-reflecting micro-pearls" and gives a slight glow from within look)
  • Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer (my current every day primer)
  • Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum (a lifesaver during the winter, when my skin feels it indoors (heating) and outdoors (cold weather))

The first 2 products contain coconut water so you'll want to avoid if you are allergic. The Hourglass has a serum texture and contains essential oils - I have sensitive skin as well but didn't have any problems with the oils.

All these primers should be available in mini size at Sephora, or you could ask for samples to see how your skin fares.

With my dry skin, I've found that exfoliating helps with the texture.  My standby has been First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads (chemical exfoliant) - they are gentle enough for me to use every night, even on my sensitive skin, though I eased into using them (i.e., 2 times per week for a few weeks, then 3 times, etc.)  There are others of varying strength, like Pixi Glow Tonic To Go Pads or ones by Dr. Dennis Gross or Kate Somerville.  For physical exfoliants, Tatcha makes different types of rice enzyme powders, depending on your skin - the gentle and soothing ones are geared towards dry and/or sensitive skin. Dermalogica also makes a physical exfoliator that can be used everyday - that one contains salicylic acid so avoid if you should not be using that particular ingredient; the Tatcha ones do not.

Re: Dry Skin Primer??

I second this! I never had dry skin but now I started using tretinoin and I have flaky skin around my mouth chin and jaw. Probably still getting use to the product, but I found the Smashbox Primer Oil to work well. I had a sample and it was very hydrating and made my makeup glide on. I usually dont like using oils before makeup since it makes my makeup too slippery to set, but this was pretty good! I let it dry a little while doing my eyes first.
