Drunk Elephant

Are Drunk Elephant products worth the $$$? Has anybody (specifically with sensitive skin) who uses them really noticed an improvement?

Re: Drunk Elephant

My skin is very sensitive to a lot of ingredients especially silicone. After trying most of the products and similar products from other brands in different price ranges the items I am most likely to repurchase are the Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mLDRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni™ Retinol Cream Shaba Complex eye serum, and the bar soaps. I really like the TLC Framboos and Sukari baby facial, but there are less expensive options that work. I prefer to use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating and Brightening Daily Toner 8 oz/ 240 mLinstead of framboos serum because it gently exfolitaes without drying my skin as much. I like the baby facial a little better than the ordinary's peel, but for the price difference it's definitely a splurge. After using the B-hydra for a couple months I went back to First Aid Beauty hydrating serum because it caused fewer breakouts and was more hydrating. After trying c-firma for a couple months I tried the ordinary ascorbic acid powder and it did more for my dark spots and wrinkles in 2 weeks than DE did in 2 months and again noticed a decrease in breakouts. My skin did not like the Lala retro cream, it broke me out within 2 days. On the other hand, after a month of using the bar soaps every evening I noticed my skin start to clear up a lot, to me they are a hidden gem. The Pekee bar is what I use most evenings, but the juju bar is nice to use as part of a double cleanse after taking off full makeup a couple nights a week. I like the protini cream but it isn't always hydrating enough for me, so I often mix a couple drops of oil into it. The marula is okay, but I prefer argan oil or rose hip seed oil. The Shaba eye serum is not an eye cream, so remember you still have to hydrate the eye if using it. It isn't a wrinkle ninja by any stretch, but I noticed a huge improvement in my brows so I will keep using it 🙂 The a-passoni seems to be working without causing any issues so for now I am a fan.

Everyone is going to have a different experience, the important thing is to listen to your skin when trying new products. If you know what ingredients you are sensitive to that can be very helpful. As for swapping to the whole line and not using other brands ... that is a sales gimmick. I mix the DE retinol into my FAB serum without any issues. It actually makes it easier to spread a small amount of product more evenly. And I mix the ordinary oils into my protini cream without any issues, they make it a better product. So while some directions should absolutely be followed (not mixing acids, following time limits, etc.) the whole "do not mix with other brands" thing should be taken with a grain of salt.

Re: Drunk Elephant

@missreviewer I really love the C-Firma and Framboos serums. I find I see the most improvement in my skin from those 2 products. I don't see vast improvement with the Babyfacial, but I use the Framboos every other day and have done do for at least 2 years, along with prescription retinoid.

I tried a deluxe sample of the peptide eye cream and like it. Thinking about purchasing in the future. The B-Hydra doesn't feel like it does anything, but doesn't break me out. The Lala is usually too heavy, but also doesn't break me out. I think the marula oil is overpriced, and I think the bar soaps are BS. I hate the sunscreen: I don't like the smell, feel like it leaves a film on my face and it does have a silicone in it. Since you have sensitive skin, I would be weary of the retinol. The formula has a lot of ingredients that have potential to be irritating.

Regardless, I highly recommend getting samples of whatever products you are interested in before laying down a lot of cash. I don't think the littles set is worth the money, but I do think the day and night duos give you enough product to see if they work for you. Definitely do a patch test and incorporate them slowly!

RE: Drunk Elephant

DE makes well-formulated products that are unlikely to aggravate skin sensitivities. But, sometimes it’s the active ingredients themselves that your skin is sensitive to - vitamin c, retinol, glycolic acid. If you’ve had trouble with these ingredients in the past, the DE formulas could still cause irritation. I think some products are worth the money, while others are a waste. What specific products or skin concerns do you have?

RE: Drunk Elephant

I’ve always used FAB products and I like them but I struggle with constant redness which an esthetician said is probably irritation from products I’m using. She recommended a skincare line that I had a horrible reaction to.. my whole face and neck got tiny little red bumps and then proceeded to peel and flake off for days. So I want to try to find something that can maybe calm the redness but I’m nervous about trying new things

Re: Drunk Elephant

@missreviewer I also have sensitive skin, and Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial™ AHA + BHA Mask 1.69 oz/ 50 mL is one of my favorite products ever. It tingled a little the first time I tried it, but then my skin was fine with it. But, nothing else I've tried has ever made my skin feel so smooth.

I also like Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL when my skin leans dry when the weather gets cold.

Re: Drunk Elephant

@missreviewer I have sensitive skin and love Drunk Elephant in my skincare routine. For me I do notice a difference when using the eye cream, hydrating serum and the vitamin c serum. Since I am in my late 30s now it has helped keep my skin hydrated and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
