Compatible Moisturizers for a Routine with Tretinoin

Hi all! I started using .04 tretinoin micro. I am having a hard time figuring out what is right and wrong to use and do in my routine because I read and watched so many conflicting things. I read yes use hyaluronic acid, or no you should not use hyaluronic acid in your tret routine from a different source. Or I read with tret micro you don’t have to wait for your skin to completely dry before applying tret.

If anything I know for sure the sandwich method is something that should be followed because that was stated consistently. Despite what I read I wait until my skin completely dries. However, what the best moisturizers to use are with this method is still a mystery to me. 

I don’t think what I’m using is working because my skin absorbs it fast like I didn’t put any on, and I still have super dry peeling flakiness. I don’t use the tret too many nights or put too much on. I switch between Laser Away’s Drenched and La Roche Double Repair because I read you should use mild moisturizers. I was going to sandwich the top layer with Kiehl’s overnight mask for the flaky skin but then I read in the Q & A section that certain ingredients and the thickness may irritate the skin even more if used over tret. To avoid using the wrong products my routine for now until I get used to the tret is wash with mild soap, tret, moisturize and put sunblock on during the day. That’s it!

Questions:

Does anyone know what moisturizers are best for sandwiching tret that doesn’t cause irritation and helps with the flakes? Is it ok to use a sheet mask to help hydrate? Is there anything else to use to hydrate that is tret compatible?

@Salonie  Glossier After Baume Moisture Barrier Recovery Cream 1.7 oz / 50 mL   has worked so well for me. I use it as the last step and it has helped so much with the dryness and flaking.
