Clinique 3 step system

Hey everyone I need some advice! I have never really had a set skin care routine, with that I did my research and decided to go with the Clinique 3 step system! I am a combination to dry skin type, I am semi oily in the T like but for my cheeks and jaw line more dry so I went with the 2 in the system. I have been using it for 3 days now and I was just wondering if it can make my face a little more oily at first ?

Thanks in advance for your feedback! All is welcome as I am very very new to skincare!

RE: Clinique 3 step system

I think you made a great choice by going with the Clinique 3 Step. Those products are designed to work together and compliment one another so it takes a lot of the guess work out of creating. Skincare routine. Your skin could just be adjusting to a new thing. You could consider switching to the dramatically different gel, or the moisture surge. Both are really hydrating but oil free

Re: Clinique 3 step system

Hi there! Sounds like you went with the correct skin type system-- mild soap, clarifying 2, and dramatically different moisturizing lotion +. That being said the 3 step system is not really supposed to make your skin oily, but it will help to keep your skin feeling more plump and smooth. If you're experiencing oiliness my suggestion is to use the moisturizer only in the areas you feel dry and/ or make sure you aren't using too much of it, all you need is a pump or two. If you try both of these suggestions and are still experiencing oiliness then perhaps you need to swap out the lotion for the gel. The dramatically different moisturizing gel is an oil free, very lightweight, alternative to the moisturizing lotion. It is usually given to those with more combonation/ oily skin but some people with combonation/ dry skin  prefer. If you have any other questions let me know. 🙂

Okay great! Like I said I'm new so figuring how how my face should feel is all new as well, I feel like it's mainly in my forehead that I am experiencing what I think maybe more oily but I will use a little less and just stick with it! I got the starting pack (smaller portion) so if I need to switch after it's out I will! Thank you! So far besides that I am really loving the results already! I have paired it with the exfoliating scrub as well!

Re: Clinique 3 step system

Hi there!

It is fairly common for your skin to be oily or do weird things at first. Your skin will want tp produce more oil because it is going through a " freak out" phase. Don't panic! keep up with your regime it usually takes around a month for your skin to figure out if its working for you or not. After a month our skin turns over and creates new refreshed skin underneath. Give it a chance and if it doesn't work out sephora does have a good return policy :). I would also recommending exfoliating to help get rid of dead skin or a face mask maybe once a week or every other week!

RE: Re: Clinique 3 step system

Do you recommend a night face mask? I just bought one the other day to use once or twice a week, is that a good step ?

RE: Re: Clinique 3 step system

I like using Clinique’s 7day scrub in the mornings to exfoliate. It’s easier to use in the shower. My makeup goes on so much smoother. You might also like Clinique’s Pep-start 2 in 1 exfoliating cleanser. I have used 7 day scrub for about 20 years and just recently tried the pep-start and liked it. My daughter is 19 and has been using clinique for 8 years and just recently started using the 7 day scrub and loves how it makes her skin feel. Just remember to let the scrub do the work and don’t apply to much pressure.
