Alright, to all my skincare-loving friends, I'd love it if someone who has used two or more of these cleansing oils that I've picked out to compare/contrast them for me and give me your thoughts or preferences. I usually use a cleansing balm for my first cleanse but I really want to try out an actual oil, just to change it up a little bit, so here are the three that I want some opinions on:
-TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser
-BOSCIA - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil
-Dermalogica Precleanse Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil 5.1oz/150mL
Hope one of you can help me out!
Josie Maran's cleansing oil hands down my favourite. Its all natural, vegan, cruelty free too. It removes even waterproof mascara. You pump a few small pumps into DRY hand and apply on DRY face and massage for about 30 seconds. Add warm water and keep massaging another 30 seconds and it starts to melt. It literally melts all make up and oil and leaves skin feeling fresh and smooth, never tight. This is my holy grail. Tried others and keep returning to this one and I find the bottle is huge for the price.#argancleansingoil
I also did not care for the tatcha @CookieGirl1 I have tried a few others,, but my most favorite has been FRESH - Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil
Several people have recommended that one to me, @lmaster. I may have to wait until I find that one on a little bit of a sale and then try that one. Thank you :).
I definitely trust your recommendation, @lmaster. There are definitely a lot of skincare-savvy members here that I can count on for good advice and suggestions and you've always been one of them 😊.
@CookieGirl1 I've tried all three of those and would say I prefer the Dermalogica of those options. Like some of the others mentioned, the Boscia just didn't seem to work well for actually getting all of my makeup off. I didn't care for the viscosity and scent of the Tatcha. The Dermalogica was alright. My absolute favorite oil cleanser is Shiseido's Perfect Cleansing Oil. I've also had good luck with The Face Shop's Bright Light Rice Water Cleansing Oil, but that does have fragrance if that's an issue.
@quspork Ooh, that's really helpful that you've used all three. Yeah, I've tossed the idea of trying the Boscia one; I was only initially even considering it because it seems to have decent reviews on the website but I definitely trust all of YOUR opinions over random site reviews. I've tried sample foils of the Dermalogica and liked them and since it's on sale this week at Ulta it seemed like an ideal time to just grab a full size of that one. It sounds like a lot of people enjoy the one from Shiseido, though, and if the Dermalogica one wasn't going on a good sale I'd probably go for that one instead. Thanks so much for your input!
Ah yes! I forgot the pre-cleanse was a daily deal at Ulta this week, @CookieGirl1. In that case, it's definitely worth checking out. For half-price I like it even better LOL.
@quspork yeah, it was definitely a little more incentive to at least give it a try.
I've tried both the Tatcha and Boscia oils and can't say I am in love with either. I have always LOVED my Tatcha products, and this one works well too, but I think there are better options out there. I can understand why the Boscia one is getting some of the feedback it has here. It works well for me but definitely requires more product (and more effort) than others. The FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm is still what works best for me when I am wearing a lot of makeup, but I am going to look into some of the other suggestions on here.
@Lashesoverlips That’s my absolute favorite eye makeup remover!
@CookieGirl1 I’ve used the tatcha cleansing oil and I’ve also used juice beauty cleansing oil and I preferred the Tatcha brand. I really liked the other brand too but I felt I got a really good clean from the tatcha.
Thanks for the feedback, @ather. I know that a lot of people really seem to like the one from Tatcha.
I've only tried BOSCIA - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil and I was not impressed. It had no chance of taking on my tinted SPF and couldn't completely handle light makeup in my experience using an entire mini size @CookieGirl1
That's really good to know, @ShortErica, because if it can't remove my SPF it's a definite "no" for me. One of my "Beauty/Self-Care Resolutions" for the year is to be better about really consistently wearing my SPF because I haven't always been the best about it so I think that I'll cross the Boscia off my list. I may try the other two and compare them myself; the Precleanse is one of this week's specials during Ulta"s skincare sale so at least it will be half-price and I've tried very little from Tatcha but have wanted to dabble in it a little more. Boscia's products historically haven't wowed me from what I've used so I'm not too surprised at your review.
I know products work differently for everyone so you may want to try it still but I wouldn't prioritize it. I'll be curious on your thoughts on the other two @CookieGirl1. I've thought about trying the dermalogica too.
@CookieGirl1 Historically I haven't had good luck with cleansing oils. I've tried CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil Makeup Remover 6.7 oz/ 200 mL, MAC Cleanse Off Oil and Paula's Choice Perfect Cleansing Oil. I was about to give up when I got a sample of DHC Olive Concentrated Cleansing Oil. So far I'm on my second foil, and liking it enough to buy the full size soon.
Good luck! Let us know what you decide 🙂
