Cleansers for 11yo boy

What cleanser would you recommend for an 11 year old boy? He does not have any acne yet, but I want to get a head start on keeping his skin clean. I am also looking to exfoliate his skin once a week - any recommendations?

Re: Cleansers for 11yo boy

@NattieRenee  The Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser may be a good option - particularly since it's blue!  I used if for years; I finally found that it was too harsh for my skin and since switched to FIRST AID BEAUTY - Face Cleanser

so that one is an option I would also rec.

If you are looking for drugstore, CeraVe also has nice cleansers.

As for exfoliation, you could use 1% BHA from Paula's Choice, but IDK if he needs it yet.

Good luck to you both!

Well my husband is like an 11 year old boy...haha!! He loves the Boscia cleansers. They are super effective, don’t really smell like much, are clear.

Re: RE: Cleansers for 11yo boy

I agree with @lustylips recommendation, Boscia cleansers are nice and gentle. I'd also recommend the First Aid Beauty Cleanser for the same reason, very gentle and easy to use!

Re: Cleansers for 11yo boy

I would start with the basics, cleanser and moisturizer instead of exfoliating, to establish a cleansing habit. Exfoliating once a week is probably too much at his age, the skin is still young. Personally I don't even exfoliate once a week, not all skin needs it routinely.

Drugstore basics, Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser, blue bottle, Purpose brand, Simple brand. Moisturizer, Neutrogena oil free white bottle. You're doctor will have recommendations as well. @NattieRenee

Baby products as well are gentle, he may say no since of the word 'baby'  but easy to pour into an unbranded bottle.

Re: Cleansers for 11yo boy

I'll be honest with you @NattieRenee , I love all the fancy skincare I can get my hands on , but for your son I would recommend using a simple spectro gel or cetaphil cleanser from the drugstore.  These are items that my dermatologist regularly suggests to everyone.  I think they'd be less intimidating to your son and if he doesn't like one of them, you wouldn't be out a lot of money.  A good idea would be to get him started on a moisturizing sunscreen at the same time.  Cetaphil makes a good basic one with an SPF 50.  Most of the men in my life are used to getting samples of products from me, but they prefer basic routines.  Cleanser and a combination moisturizer/spf is a great habit to start, its awesome that you're getting him started on caring for his skin so early!
