Chemical vs Physical Exfoliate

I'm looking for the best/ right exfoliator and trying to choose between a physical exfoliate and a chemical exfoliate. In the past I’ve tended to use physical ones (back in my teenage, acne years). I’m currently 25 years old and looking to target blackheads and keep an overall smooth texture. I was using Arcona’s Cranberry Gromage with their Gentle Solution, then tried switching it up withBIOSSANCE - Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Mask ,but I’m not really noticing much of a difference. I prefer natural brands  and I don’t want anything too harsh that’s going to strip my skin!  I have sensitive skin and only exfoliate 2-3 times per week

Re: Chemical vs Physical Exfoliate

Hi @KirstinBeans20 , I think with all skincare, what works for one person might not work for another and it’s largely trial and error. These are some products that have worked for me - I know we can’t go to a physical store to get samples now, but perhaps look into mini sizes if you want to try them sooner rather than later: DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Extra Strength Daily Peel Pads 30 Treatments + 5 Bonus  FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads

@KirstinBeans20 I think you will have the most success with chemical exfoliation.  Paula's Choice BHA 9 is a total HG for me.  It also comes in 1, 2, and 4%.  I also recently started using a clay mask by VERSED and it's been rather amazing.  Good luck!  Let us know how it goes 🙂

RE: Chemical vs Physical Exfoliate

When I was looking for an exfoliator for similar acne concerns, it was recommended to me to use a scrub. I’ve been using volition beauty’s turmeric brightening polish and I LOVE it. It makes your skin feel so smooth and has helped brighten acne scars.

RE: Chemical vs Physical Exfoliate

Chemical exfoliants are the way to go, especially if you have sensitive skin. Krave Beauty’s Kale Lalu Yaha is a gentle exfoliator thats great for exfoliating the surface of your skin and getting rid of whiteheads. If blackheads are your concern I recommend BHA products like CosRx Blackhead Power liquid. This toner has niacinamide in it so it’ll help protect your skin barrier. Youth To The People’s Kombucha + AHA toner is great too! Only thing to call out is that the formula is very sticky so I recommend using this at night.
