Cakey under eye

Hello!

I would like to know if I am the only one in the world that does not seem to have any effect with neither the spray nor the powder to fix my makeup. Or maybe it's something else, I don't know but my under eyes are always cakey - like even 10 minutes after finish make up.

I started with Marcelle, powder: allergic reaction Then Laura Mercier, powder: not terrible, especially the eyes is horrible effect '' cakey '' Turned to Urban Decay, spray: Better, but still ... my concealer sneaks into fine lines after 5 minutes. 2 hours later, it's '' cakey '' also.

Looks like it's peeling, snake style :o(

Basically, I have an ultra sensitive skin and so after using millions brands of moisturizer I came across Biotherm that suits me at the moment. Then I tried the correctors; I have for now NYX / Becca. And then, the concealer; again after a thousand miles and a try I have right now ByeBye Under Eye from IT Cosmetic. I have dark circles hyperpigmentation: black with sometimes blue veins, hereditary, above and below the eyelid, worse and worse each year - I look like a raccoon.

I litteraly tried 100 brand ... drugstore and cashy ones - I'm desperate! Whatever I tried, it become cakey so I no somethings wrong.

I have already tried three times to make an appointment with beauticians, they themselves have trouble covering and holding ... I'm thinking of using a professional make-up artist, but hello the loaded costs.

Maybe one of you can orientate me!

Cakey under eye

A couple things to consider here: 1. you may not have a solid skincare routine. Starting at the root, many people don't understand that a major part of having flawless makeup is taking care of your skin first and foremost. If you want a routine recommended, let me know your skincare type. 2. You may not be using an effective primer. Smashbox and Too Faced have great primers. but depending on your skin type results may vary. 3. Wrong Foundation and or conclearer may be the cause. Investing in a concealer that is specifically made for not settling in creasess would be a good start. Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is great for this. 4. get plenty of sleep and stay hydrated. 5. Using a setting powder and setting spray. I use Kat Von D's Setting Powrder and Smashbox Setting Spray. Best of luck!

2. Which one for primer, the special to eyes or normal face primer?

Re: Cakey under eye

UPDATE : I tried different suggestion from you, and seems to work !

Unless, now all the product are goes directly into the wrinkles and it looks like hell.

Re: Cakey under eye

I also had this issue and here is what I’ve found works the best (for me)

-smash box photo primer

- Sephora collection instant awakening eye moisturizer MIXED with a few drops of bioessence squlaine oil (or honesTly any face oil) rubbed under eye

-dot Makeup Forever HD foundation in triangle under eye, blend

- maybelline age rewind under eye concealer (!) honestly, I swore off drugstore products years ago, but this works very well!

-at this point you prob look crazy,  but now is when you apply loose powder to help set everything.  I use bare minerals and kat von d lock it setting powder.

the crucial step here is the OIL mixed with under eye cream, it creates a nice canvas to help make up stick without creasing or looking unnatural.  I know this is a few steps but it really works!  Every time I’m feeling lazy and skip a step it totally changes the end result.

only other thing I’ll say is TaTa Harper under eye cream works very well too.

Good Luck!

Re: Cakey under eye

1 - For now I use Biotherm Aquasource Gel (for all the face) and Biotherm Skin Best Eye (with a drop of avocado extract). For night I have Biotherm Blue Therapy, with same things for eyes than day routine.

2 - I confess, I don't use primer - used to in the past and probably I had the wrong type but it drying even more.

3 - I have Garnier Skin Renew as foundation, corrector NYX (or Becca, for the better days), Bye Bye Under Eye. I might try the new Urban Decay All Nighter concealer, but heard that it's really dry so I'm concern that it will be wrost.

4 - I think I can't get more sleep that I already have without loosing my social life lol for hydrating I do have 1 L per day, but dark circles and dryness followed me since I was 7 years old, thanks to hereditary.

5 - For setting I've Urban Decay All Nighter, because I tried Laura Mercier powder and Lord knows that it was so much cakey that I had to restart all my routine to get out of home properly.

Re: Cakey under eye

A couple of things in response to your posts @Katiminnie

- Try an undereye primer. I use Smashbox's Hydrating Under Eye primer before concealer

- If you are caking on the concealer in an effort to cover your dark circles, no matter what you use, it WILL crease, it WILL settle into fine lines and it WILL look cakey. Use thin layers, warm it up with your fingers and blend well into the skin. I use very, very little concealer under my eyes. Less is really more when it comes to under eye concealer. If I use too much, my concealer will look cakey no matter what I use to prime and set.

- You also do not need a lot of powder to set concealer. It will look cakey no matter how well blended your concealer is. A light dusting is all you need. I use a fluffy tapered brush dipped into loose powder, tap the excess, and gently pat on.

- I'm not sure if 1 L of water per day is really sufficient for hydration, depending on where you live and what you eat on a daily basis. Personally I drink 2-3 L of water per day and that's without strenuous activity (e.g., workouts, hiking, etc)

Re: Cakey under eye

I know it’s not a good thing to put many things under eyes. But if I don’t put at least corrector, then better to wear nothing. I have black dark circle, even many ladies who tried to covered them and they just let it go.

I can’t use powder, tiny of plants quantity it’s just awful.

Drink water, I can drink 5 L and do working 3 hours per day, they will stay... they are hyper pigmentation, just esthetic clinic can help me and it will cost me $$$ when it’s not even permanently.

Trust me, almost 30 so I tried millions cream, tricks and consult but I was hoping I’m not the only one in heart lol

Re: Cakey under eye

@Katiminnie are you using the NYX correctors in the pot? I tried those and they didn’t work for me at all, although the colour was perfect- the problem is it was too greasy and it would always crease and slide down my face. Also the Bye Bye Under eye is super heavy, you might just be using too much product under your eyes so when you set it it just looks heavy.

Re: Cakey under eye

Yes I use nyx in pot, but even Becca do the same. I also tried without both and still.

I know Bye Bye is heavy but trust me, I need a duty because dark circle a really black. If I don’t have a pretty covering one, all the day people ask me if I’m ok or tired lol

I have never used Biotherm so I can't really say whether...

I have never used Biotherm so I can't really say whether or not that's the best routine. but if it's working well for you, great! Really try a primer and different concealer. The Too Faced ones I recommended are great options. Also, I forgot to mention, Blotting papers help too! Sephora has some. simply use them after setting your makeup. Best of luck
