Baby Facial!

So I just got my Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial and it said there might be slight tingles but I tried it anyways (duh I bought it) When I applied it I suddenly felt a bad tingle and took it off straight. What should I do!!

Re: Baby Facial!

@thehaima If you're applying straight after cleansing, don't. Moisture allows products to get into the skin faster and more irritation is likely. Wait 30 minutes or so after cleansing to apply.

Could be too strong, as others have noted, and/or reacting to your other products. Did you apply anything else beforehand, like a serum? What exact products do you use?

RE: Re: Baby Facial!

I put the mask on straight when I got out of the shower. I didn’t put anything on before the mask, just cleansed with Innisfree Green Tea Foaming cleanser.

Re: RE: Re: Baby Facial!

@thehaima Baby facial was applied too early. Skin was too steamed and moist, wait longer afterwards.

Re: Baby Facial!

@thehaima  do you have experience with acids? The babyface mask is rather intense - especially if you have not used acids before. It does tingle and can feel intense, even for people who use other acids regularly, I do believe they advise to only leave it on for a few minutes until you build up for to using it. That said, you can definitely find less intense options so if you aren't comfortable or an experienced acid user it may not be the mask for you.

RE: Re: Baby Facial!

The only type of acid included products are Mario Badescu’s acne facial cleaner which I believe has Salicylic Acid in it or Murad’s Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment.

Re: Baby Facial!

@thehaima If you're new to using acids probably it is too strong for you. You can test it again on a small, less visible part of your skin (like under your chin) and see what happens. To be on the safe side, I would return this and get something gentler. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Facialhas similar exfoliating/brightening effects but is gentler IMO and more soothing with the squalane oil but I would still get a sample first to make sure it isn't still too strong. The Ordinary also has a glycolic acid toner that is a much lower % acid that would be much gentler and give the same results with consistent/repeated use over time for much less $ and you could always amp up to something stronger for a little bump in effectiveness once your skin is ready

I’ll try that. Thank you!

Yikes! That does not sound pleasant. I have sensitive skin and it does tingle/burn a bit but I also have been working my way up to using AHA/BHA for some time now. I would recommend testing it out again but just on a small section and seeing how your skin reacts. It could be that your skin is not used to the product. Have you used similar products with the same result before?

RE: Re: Baby Facial!

All the masks I’ve used before were always fine except for this one... I’ll definitely try it on somewhere else and see what happens. Thanks!
