Alternative to Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna Oil

I love Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna Oil products and have seen great results from using them. However, given the issue with the companies fraudulent activity, added to the cost of the products, I would like to make a change to my night routine. I would appreciate any suggestions for alternatives that people have found success with. I recently ordered the Ordinary 10% lactic acid product. Recalling the recommendation by Sunday Riley to use Luna then Good Genes in contrast to general advice on ordering products, I am unsure whether to use it before or after a retinol product or if I need to alternate nights etc.

RE: Alternative to Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna Oil

So also loved Good Genes! I went back and forth about spending the money given the ingredients and what not. I placed an order through The Ordinary. I got the AHA 30%, Mandelic Acid and Lactic acid 5% treatments. For all of them I paid less then a third of the price of Sunday Riley’s Good Genes. Let me start by saying the AHA 30% looks a little scary in the bottle but it is AMAZING. I think it works better then Sunday Riley. My skin is instantly glowing when I take it off (the application process is a little different then GG). I’ve also tried the Mandelic acid, I’d say it’s gentler? But still same great effects. I have yet to try the Lactic Acid serum from the Ordinary but I plan on it. I’d say the ordinary products worth experimenting with!

Good options from others! I really like the Ole Henriksen OLEHENRIKSEN - Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum and Biossance Biossance Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL as an alternative to the Luna, which is sadly no longer available in Canada. There is also HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum , but I haven't tried yet, but others recommend. The Ordinary has a good Lactic Acid  The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% Exfoliating Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL  but I'm excited to try the Herbivore HERBIVORE - Prism 12% AHA + 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum and Biossance Biossance Squalane + 10% Lactic Acid Resurfacing Serum 1.01 oz / 30 mL products.

@bostonh Check out Jordan Samuel retinol oil as an alternative to Luna. Pestle and Mortar also have a retinol oil, though I personally cannot stand the smell.

I think you would really like Farmacy honeymoon glow, it’s similar to what your looking for. The ordinary acid is also very good. As for ordering of products I think it’s up to personal preference if your skin can handle it but I think it’s better to do alternating nights, Hope it helps ♥️

RE: Alternative to Sunday Riley Good Genes and Luna Oil

Hey there, so for my lactic acidosis I use Farmacy Honeymoon glow and love it. It can be strong so I like to apply a thin layer of moisture before anything reactive. I also only layer my retinol and acids if I’m dealing with bad texture. Otherwise alternating nights between the two products works great. For my retinol it is not sold through Sephora but through beauty pie.
