Acne

I have really severe acne and I need product recommendations

RE: Acne

Also be mindful of your diet. Your skin is a reflection of your gut, the better you eat, the better your skin will be. Then you can use skincare for hydrating and it will CHANGE your life. Sephora doesn't carry the brand Leanne Grace, but her miracle beauty oil and serum and boosters are life changing. Give those a try!

RE: Acne

There are 3 main ingredients that help to kick acne's butt; salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and retinoids/retinol. Salicylic acid is going to exfoliate and help purify the skin. Benzoyl peroxide is like a bomb that goes into the pores and breaks up the bacteria/dirt/oil. Retinol/retinoids boost cell turnover so your fresh skin cells can come to the surface faster. Using a combination of these ingredients will really help to combat your concerns. Salicylic acid is great to use in a cleanser, benzoyl peroxide in spot treatments, and retinol/retinoid in a nighttime serum or treatment. Products containing sulfur, like a mask or spot treatment, are a little gentler and will help as well.

Salicylic acid is the gold standard ingredient to look for for acne prevention.

Non-intuitively, do try to keep your skin moisturized. If it's too dry after cleansing, your skin will over-produce oil to compensate, thus possibly making the acne worse.

In addition, do make sure you change your pillow case at least once a week. Since your face is up against it for at least eight hours every day, a grungy pillow case can easily contribute to an acne problem.

However, if your acne is bad enough to cause you pain, and doesn't yield to over-the-counter solutions, you may want to see a dermatologist about prescription acne medications.

And, on the topic of medicine, if you get to your 20s and your acne hasn't cleared up even a little bit, have your primary care physician check your hormone levels next time you see them. Excessive adult acne is sometimes indicative of hormone problems, and that in turn is possibly a symptom of an underlying condition.

Spoiler
For example, PCOS, which is the most common endocrine disorder for women under 45, often has acne as a symptom.

RE: Acne

I use clean & clear morning burst and night relaxing. The morning burst has a nice menthol feel and smells great. Perfect for waking up. However if you have sensitive skin with menthol and the stort of burn feeling then just get the night one. It smells like flowers and cleans really well. I've been using it for a year now and I don't break out anymore. And I have terrible acne. The two pack was like $8 and one each was $3 or $4 Hope this helps.
