Perioral Dermatitis

I have perioral dermatitis and am wondering what others like me suggest for a face moisturizer. I also wonder what you recommend for a powder foundation. I have combination skin.

Re: Perioral Dermatitis

I'm sorry you are dealing with this - it's no fun!  I have had it many times over the last ten years and the first time I got I, I switched everything over to Cetaphil (both cleanser and moisturizer).  If I get any flare-ups now, I continue to use my daily go-to which is Josie Maran's Daily Argan Moisturizer (SPF 47) and I have had no issues with it.  I used to use BareMinerals original foundation with no issues during flare-ups.  I have since switched to liquid foundation, however.  Good luck to you!

Re: Perioral Dermatitis

Thank you. I have had flare ups off and on for years. This last one doesn't want to go away (year+). I no longer have health insurance and cant afford to go to the doc to get the antibiotics. One thing I found while doing research was to use baby diaper rash cream (zinc oxide-the higher the better), which has helped a lot calming the rash around my nose. I pretty much gave up wearing makeup because of the reaction with the pod. I have been thinking about trying the bare minerals original foundation, but wasn't sure if it would cause the same issues that my cheap Neutrogena foundation does. As for the moisturizer- I have very sensitive skin everywhere else as well.

Re: Perioral Dermatitis

My experience was that BareMinerals didn't cause any additional issues.  I did have to quit using dryer sheets, fabric softener, switch to Tide Free, and only use Cetaphil soap for quite awhile.  I've had sensitive skin since I was a baby so it's a life long process.  Best wishes to you on your journey!

Re: Perioral Dermatitis

Thank you. You as well. Which Cetaphil did you use? When I was looking, I couldn't find any with out sulfates.
