First aid beauty

Hello,

I wanted to know everyones opinion on the FAB line. I have sensitive and acne prone skin...its not terrible but I usually get 1 or 2 cystic acne bumps a month which drives me crazy. I feel like it takes over my face for 2 weeks. My skin reacts to most things but I really need a am and pm regime . My skin is dry in the am and oily in the afternoon (not sure if its oily bc of the moisturizer I use) . I hear great things about the brand. I've tried the radiance pads but I'm spot testing them on my wrist before I start using on my face..I also have the ultra repair cream sample seems ok but for some odd reason the ultra repair face moisturizer made my hand itchy but I had no issues with the regular ultra repair cream seems odd?

I also had my eye on the coconut smoothie primer for my pores but again I'm so nervous to try anything on my face. I need a good cleanser as well I'm currently using cetaphil and I just don't like it...help please. Any feedback is appreciate

Re: First aid beauty

@Nay2017  Cystic acne is no fun.  There are a couple of products that I wouldn't want to be without, and those are their Ultra Repair Cream and their unscented shower gel.

Personally, I felt their Face Cleanser was too heavy, even for my dry skin.  However, the shower gel is, I believe, PH balanced and can be used all over.  Sometimes I use it in the shower to wash my face and it is fine.  The shower gel is available on FAB's site.

From our own experience in our house with cystic acne, we have seen improvements with products that contain acids.  If you wanted to stay with FAB products, the ones that most resemble what we use are the following:

1. Deep Cleanser with Red Clay- This really helps clean the pores, along with using the Skin Rescue Purifying Red Clay Mask twice a week.

2. Blemish Control Pads- after cleansing in the a.m.  We have these, and they do help to cleanse the face well and kill bacteria.

3. This seems counter-productive, but I have read, and found it to be true, that if you moisturize your face, it will help keep your own skin's oil production at bay because it's not needed.  A family member told me that their skin was less oily when they used the moisturizer.  I would think that FAB's Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum would be adequate.  It's a good idea to use a moisturizer when you start using peels and exfoliators also.  FAB's oil-free gel moisturizer has a lot of good ingredients also.

4. A couple of other products that will help your cell turnover and therefore prevent pore clogging are FAB's 10% AHA Resurfacing Liquid and their Retinol Serum (use at different times of day, better on alternating days.)

I really hope you find something that works!

Re: First aid beauty

Hi @Nay2017

I have oily, sensitive skin and I love the FAB ultra repair cream.  I can use it as a face moisturizer and even though it seems thick, it has never caused me to breakout.  This and the Ole Henriksen counter balance oil control hydrator are the only 2 moisturizers I’ve tried that don’t make me more oily or cause breakouts. It is a must have for me in the winter. So I highly recommend you try it!

I can’t speak for the FAB cleansers but the cleanser I use is the Cerave foaming cleanser for oily/combo skin. It’s affordable and leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight.

Good luck and I hope one of the FAB products works for you!

Re: First aid beauty

Unfortunately I dont have the same skin issues you do. But I completely love the Ultra Repair Cream I do use it on my face when it feels dry and it really works for me. I gave some to my cousin who does have awefull acne and his prescription medication was making his face dry and flaky and he also tested it on a small area and had no reaction and now uses it regularly and it helps him with the dryness.

Re: First aid beauty

@Nay2017,

I haven't tried everything in the First Aid Beauty line, but in general what I've tried has been good.  As with all things skincare, each person's skin will respond differently, so it is good that you are doing patch tests of the products first.  I would highly encourage that you start off slow, introduce a product at a time after patch testing for any reactions and to not incorporate another new product until you've had a couple of weeks of using the initial product.

I've tried the Radiance Pads and love them - they have been a staple for me. I have combination-dry (oily T-zones, dry elsewhere), dehydrated and sensitive skin.  My skin is very sensitive to acids and I had some reservations when I first decided to try these out (which was probably about a year or so ago).  I use these pads about 2-3 times per week, on my face, along my jawline and neck area and have found that with regular and consistent use my skin is clearer and looks brighter/more radiant. If your skin does not have a negative reaction to these pads, I highly recommend them.  Gentle but effective.

In terms of their cleansers, I like the Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay.  My skin tends to veer toward the dry side so I only use this cleanser periodically, typically when my skin is oilier than normal, but if you have oily skin, you may be able to use it more frequently.  It's great at absorbing excess oils without drying out the skin.  Another good cleanser you might be interested in (not First Aid Beauty) is Neogen Green Tea Real Fresh Foam Cleanser - this is currently my go-to second cleanser - cleanses my skin without stripping it dry.

The Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask is a nice one; I find it does a good job soothing, hydrating and moisturizing my skin and reach for it if I my skin gets red or flakey for whatever reason.

Also very moisturizing is the Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothing Priming Moisturizer.  I first tried this when I received a mini trial size in a subscription box.  I, too, was a little nervous because of my skin sensitivities but it is a good primer - as the name says, it is rather moisturizing as well.  You mentioned you were looking at this product for your pores.  Are you looking for something to provide more of a matte finish and/or conceal the areas where your pores are larger?  If so, you may want to look at Benefit POREfessional Face Primer or Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.  The First Aid Beauty coconut primer, to me, at least, seems to be more geared towards hydration than pore minimization or blurring.
