Face stings after Phat Glow Facial

Hi everyone. I am still really new to the skincare world and just received the Phat Glow Facial mask by Olehenriksen. I’ve used it three times and I find that the skin under my eyes (highest part of my cheeks) really stings after.  It stings when I apply toner and moisturizer after.  Does anyone know why? I would really hate to have to stop using this since I don’t think I can return the product and it costs $66 Canadian:(

can someone help?

Re: Face stings after Phat Glow Facial

Its a high strength acid peel, @Anonymous. I'm not sure how often you're using it, but you shouldn't be using it more often than once a week. If you're not used to using acids, then if you start using it again, use it for 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended time and work your way up from there.

Please don't use it very close to your eyes!!

If you're using the OH toners or moisturizers, some of them also contain acids, and it could be exasperating your skin.

Let your skin have some time to rest. Keep it simple with your skin with extra hydration and ceramides to build your skin back up.

If you start using it again, start slow. If it burns, remove immediately. Tingling is normal, burning is not. Think about going with a gentle toner after and some extra moisturizer with like a moisturizer and sleeping mask.

Good luck!!

I am using the glow recipe watermelon toner and the Clinique 72 hr hydration moisturizer after. I believe the toner also has acids in it. So would that be the issue? Thanks so much!!

Re: RE: Re: Face stings after Phat Glow Facial

Potentially, @Anonymous. I wouldn't use any other acids at the same time as using a peel or exfoliator of this type. So definitely stop using the glow recipe one right after.

Does it only sting immediately after when you apply the toner and moisturizer? Or like the next days?

I haven't used that moisturizer, but I know for my skin, that even using like a cucumber hydrating gel mask after can sting in some spots after an intense exfoliantion.

If you haven't disrupted your moisture barrier, I'd make sure your adjusting your wear time and skip the toner right after. Add another layer of hydration with a sleeping mask.

You might also want to check in with a derm, if you can, even digitally.

Good luck!!

My face only stings right after the mask, and after application of the toner and moisturizer.  By the time I fell asleep, I fell completely fine and there was no redness this morning!

@Anonymous It would be a good idea to not use a toner containing acids after. Just put super nourishing products on after.

@Anonymous

Never follow a acid mask with an acid toner, unless you are sure your skin can handle it.
