Not sure where else to post this, but one of my local Targets is renovating their beauty section. Looks like they are going for a different aesthetic, more Sephora, less big box.Island of minis
Well lit, well stocked
My little ingredient stickler. This was a pleasant surprise!
All Target's are being revamped, not just the beauty section, but other departments as well to showcase products. I've meet someone who is working on this Target project.
@eshoe I had no idea this sort of thing was going on. How cool!
Yeah, it sure makes it easier to linger in the beauty dept., as if I needed an excuse @greeneyedgirl107😆
Interesting development @eshoe! I sincerely hope my Target revamps the beauty area. As it is, they barely have anything in stock and what is there is usually tampered with. It's a mess and I am always so surprised because the rest of the store is great.
It must be so hard to keep up with the tampering, @playingdressup. Someone else here questioned testers-@alexasteph I think. I wonder too, how much waste and for how long can a company endure before an area becomes unprofitable. The markup on some of this stuff must be enough to justify this type of expansion!
@eshoe Just adding on to this -- a friend went to target recently and said there was a sales person dedicated to the beauty section to help her. They matched her foundation, and this sales associate told her she used to work at Sephora. Apparently Target is trying to expand their beauty section and make it more like a department store with testers and a sales associate to help match you.
Likely because they are the products people hear/read about and want to try out before buying, @alexalicious. Unfortunately it ultimately will raise the prices all around for these products.
There is a dedicated employee in this area, I want to say it’s been a couple of months at least. She sets up a table and hands out samples on the weekends, @itscarin. I haven’t talked with her much yet, though I imagine I will be getting to know her better😉
@itscarin If they put testers out I hope they also (always) have an associate (or two) watching over them if they are trying to make it “department store like.” Even with a push towards higher end and more luxury items, I’ve seen seals broken on items, lotion squeezed out of tubes, etc. They’ll need to have testers for ALL products, even the conventional drug store brands. Right now, my Target has testers out for Boots, Pacifica, Pixi, etc. but not for Maybelline, Almay, CoverGirl, etc. I like the idea of being about to explore better at Target, but that means so do wandering kids. Target isn’t a pure beauty store or a high end department store, nor should it be, but it’s so family driven I worry it’s just inviting a lot of messes, theft, dirty displays, and the like. If they want to do this, it’s gotta be full on 100%.
@alexasteph It would be amazing if drug store beauty items had testers - I've been saying this since the 90s! But I think you make an excellent point about the cleanliness and tampering!
Which means higher prices overall, I would think, @alexasteph, @itscarin. Eventually, at least.
That does look nice, @eshoe! How fun that you got your daughter into masks, too!
I just wish she left them on longer than 5 minutes, @curlychiquita😂 but yeah, she loves them, too!
Our local store is currently in the middle of renovations too and I had so many mixed emotions when I was there Thursday because half of the shelves were completely empty and the stuff that was left was completely moved around so it took forever to find anything *BUT* they had started putting together the beauty section and what displays they did have up looked really great!
It looks like your store is more complete, so I'm excited to see how it all turns out! Target's really upping their game!
I know, @quspork! The last time I was there it was just a lot of empty shelves. I walked by a couple of times before deciding to take a few pics, it just looked too good not to!
Oh wow - that looks like a great renovation. I haven’t been to my target in a while, I should go see if they’re getting the remodel too!
Also, I NEED that dress your little ingredient stickler is wearing! Tacos ARE life in Texas 😂🌮 @eshoe
