Free fragrance gift scam? Chloe Love Story

Has anyone been able to receive the free gift with purchase of an applicable fragrance promoted on the Sephora website recently? I just purchased Chloe Love Story which is supposed to come with a free clutch. After my order processed, I received an email saying the clutch was “out of stock.” I only purchased the perfume in this size and online in order to get that dang bag! Now I’m wondering how long Sephora has been “out of stock.” I feel that they’re likely leaving these promotions up online to bait us into buying a more expensive option even if they know the promotion has run out. I’d like to dig up some facts. If you’ve successfully or unsuccessfully received this promotion recently (within the past 3 or so months?) please respond! I’m most interested to get data with the Chloe clutch since I can correlate it against the date of my recent purchase. Thanks!
