PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

Although I have discovered some great scents through Play! I agree the comment about allowing subscriber to get something other than fragrance samples. Also I've been really disappointed in the lack of Play! Dates in my area. There are 3 stand alone stores and 2 JCP stores in my area and none of them ever offer the event. Its incredibly disappointing.

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

It's a really fun to get every month, but I have some feedback. I thought sephora "play" would be more makeup and experimenting with colors and makeup we wouldn't normally have tried. I would love to see some blush, eyeshadow, highlighter/bronzers. I have received a lot of skincare which is nice, but my past box I got two face creams, I would really love to play with more colors and different makeup. It would be really awesome to see blush featured.

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

I hope sephora improve the Play event. I live in NYC and have been going to the sephora play date on 86th and Lex since March. It started out as an intimate 6-8 people event to a wooping 50 people event this month. While it's nice to meet more makeup lovers like me, the quality of the event has gone down hill drastically (samples got lost while passing around, can't even see/ hear the coordinator at the back etc). They also stopped checking people in by RSVP so people would literally just walk into the store and sit down hoping to get some freebies. I brought my friend this month because she is supposed to get a whole box, but the event coordinators are so distracted that they totally forgot, so my friend came for nothing. It is not the biggest deal in the world that they don't have samples to give out any more, but Sephora play should really cap the number of people who can participate every month to ensure the quality of the event.

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

Hi @usernametaken2 - Thank you so much for the feedback. Agree that the number of subscribers at the PLAY! DATE makes a big difference on the experience.

We also want to make sure your friend get the box they deserve! If you email me directly at: alta.sparling@sephora.com, I can gather your friends info and we can ship her a box.

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

I got a foundation that was gritty (and the wrong color) along with the Enhancer Drops that are much too dark for me, and this Primer that is very puzzling to me - I suspect it's water! But I'm really happy with the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. I was happy with the Chanel scent until I tried it and the spray turned away from me and half the contents came out!

So overall, not great.

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

As a migraine sufferer, I would appreciate having the option to omit the fragrance sample from my Play box. I occasionally run into an issue with perfume samples leaking, which is a trigger for my migraines.

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

Hi @angel7594 - Thank you for sharing your feedback! We are exploring other types of beauty bonuses outside of fragrance, so hopefully that will help. Plus, if you ever have an issue with your box, you can always email playhelp@sephora.com. They will assist in sending you replacement samples if/when you have an issue.

It would be nice to incorporate our color IQ so the samples better match our skin tones. I would love more powder products as well. That's always nice to test out.

I totally agree! Otherwise, if they're sending a medium and you're definitely a 'light', it's a total waste! I'll give Play a couple more tries before I discontinue. This one was pretty good except the foundation was way off, otherwise a good mixed selection. PS don't see where it says what box # it is.

Re: RE: Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

Hi @mrsbaine - thanks for sharing! You may just get your wish for powder products in the upcoming months 🙂

Keep the ideas coming!

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

I do think Sephora Play has been making more of an effort to include higher end and new items which is awesome. I loved getting the boscia pore pudding mask as I had never received a sample or promo of that before and it was cool that different makeup was included this month rather than just a mascara! I personally loved my box this month, I had been wanting to try the Kat von D concealer and the shade was great for me. I really like sephora play because I know it has higher profile items that I might not get to try otherwise so that is nice.

I think the biggest improvement needs to come from actually listening to our play profiles. This month numerous people received shades of makeup that were wildly different than their profiles and there was the month where a whole bunch of us who has straight hair listed in our profiles received curly hair products. It kind of seems like each month always has a "reject" box where random samples are thrown in regardless of whether they match the group's profile and that just is really unacceptable. Sephora Play should not be an opportunity to charge us for old or random samples they have and it kind of comes off that way when things are randomly put it that are so far off a customer's profile.

I also think it would be really great if we could opt out of certain kinds of products (I know the perfume is an add on so I don't really count that) but considering ipsy and birchbox are letting customers actually choose their products for the same price it would be nice if Sephora Play at least let you say I want to receive less hair products or something of that nature.

it's a 10 dollar box u get decent size high dollar samples I am sure there are thousands of people that get this box and they can it get every person exact.. no other subscription box does.. I have read all these comments and it's just people complaining if it's that bad cancel it.. u can't expect the newest of the new and the best of the best every time something drops.. and people who complain about the perfume sample it's an extra bonus some boxes use that as one of ur 5 items.. don't want it trash it.. geez.. why so much bitching.. give the stuff to some one who can use it who will appreciate it of u don't like it.. or again CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION and that way you won't have any thing to complain about any more.. geez.. it's not the end of the world.....

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

Hi @Kim888 - first off, thank you for the feedback and sharing how you think the program can be improved. We love hearing from our subscribers!

When it comes to matching client skin tones with products, we do our very best to send what we believe will be the closest match based on the PLAY! profile. That said, we're not always right, which is why we strongly encourage clients to go in store if they aren't satisfied with the sample they received. If you want the most accurate, personalized match, your best bet is to meet with a beauty specialist in one of our stores.

The purpose of PLAY! is to introduce subscribers to new products, brands, and formulas. As much as we try to ensure every box is the ideal fit, we don't always succeed. It's feedback like your that helps us understand what our subscribers expect so we know where to focus. So thank you!

Re: PLAY! FEEDBACK (Official Thread)

The problem with this is that not all of us are near a Sephora. The closet one to me is over an hour away, and that's one that's in a JC Penney. An actual Sephora store is over 2 hours away.

I have seen what is included in the October box - I hope the color matches are NOT what was listed online as they will be WAY too dark for me.  For reference, I am wearing Hourglass Vanishing Stick Foundation in Blanc - and I could probably go lighter. Having the shade 230 in Make-up Forever's foundation sample and the Moonlight shade on the drops will be unusable for me.

I have subscribed to Play since it was announced. I am seriously rethinking my subscription.

Thank you,
Stacy
