I was so busy in December, I didn't realize I never got my December box - but I did get the January box, and actually have used everything in it, which is a first for me.
I just cancelled my subscription because over the course of a year I haven't felt it was giving me the kind of products I wanted to try, or I was getting too many items that were previously used as "2 samples free" items.
So given the volume of negative comments here, I think we as a community need to give more, and more specific, feedback to Sephora on what we'd want. And speaking as someone in Marketing (for another company), saying "I like this other beauty box better" doesn't help them figure out how to fix theirs.
My feedback:
- It feels like many of the items that have previously been free samples are not being used as filler in the Play boxes, like the Bite Agave Lip blister duo. This does a disservice to the brands you're promoting, because you're significantly limiting the number of people who can try it.
- Same for perfume samples, unless they're either available to Play members 1-2 months before general public (in store), or special to Play.
I am recently a newer member of the play box subscription that you offer. January is my second month receiving your box and I am beginning to see some major inconsistencies and failures. One: you do not post any updates until the middle of the month, I was constantly checking for January’s update only to be shown Decembers even up until a week ago, mind you it is January 22nd. Second, I don’t actually receive what I am told I am getting when I receive your first email stating to take a look at my box that will be arriving for the month. The items I get are cheaper and weaker and makes me question what the hell am I paying $10 for. If you need an example I’ve attached two pictures. One is what I was told I should expect in my box and two is what I actually received. The patheticness of how you operate these boxes makes me question why I am giving you my business in the first place, not with just the box, but with other purchases I make. It’s disappointing and frankly just bad business. Update your app, update your boxes and update what your customers actually get in their box instead of lying to your customers. Do better or lose customers such as myself.
Exactly.. that’s the reason why I stop paying for this box.. it was getting bored.. I used to get This box and birchbox but I was getting to much junk instead of makeup.. so I had cancel both and get Boxycharm instead...(Allure Box has good stuff too..so I got that 2 🤷🏻♀️).
