RE: looking for good setting powder

Laura mercier works so well on oily skin!

Re: looking for good setting powder

I'm also dark skinned and currently using Cover Fx translucent powder.  It's not great and I have to reapply a few times a day for my oily skin.  I should have gone with the The Laura Mercier deep one is fantastic.  I have a sample of it and its works well.  Kat Von D makes a great one too but it only comes in white and not tinted for dark skin. You'll look like Casper the ghost for about 10 mins, but once it sinks into the skin, it looks great.

Urban Decay’s Naked Skin powder is the only thing I’ve found that keeps the oil in my skin down all day. It’s currently on sale on their website. I used to have to blot within 4 hours of putting on powder. Now I don’t have to at all.

Hey, try the Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder or Bobbi Brown Loose setting Powder. In my picture, I used the Sephora MicroSmooth Powder and this was taken at night with 8 hours of makeup wear that day. I've been using both and I prefer these over the Laura Mercier translucent setting Powder.  I'm super oily and these have worked great for me so far. Also make sure you're starting your makeup routine with the right primer! You definitely want a primer for oily skin. I love the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and a good drugstore brand is Hardcandy Sheer Envy Shine Free Primer. Hope this helps😊IMG_2673.JPG

Thanks! I currently have is from Benefit cosmetics the POREfessional face primer. I don't use it frequently because I don't put on makeup everyday so I'm not sure yet how good it is.

Re: looking for good setting powder

Hello!

I do not have a dark complexion but I hope I can help. The best thing about a translucent setting powder is that you can always get the original, it wont make your foundation any lighter. I've tried that setting powder and it was ok - I think it gets a lot of hype because of gurus on youtube. I have really oily skin so it didnt work for me. The one I use now is the Nars light reflecting setting powder!

Also here is a tip- Sometimes its best to get a compact setting powder over a loose powder because the loose one is so messy and so much product is wasted. In addition to that, oily people tend to add so much setting powder and even "bake"... This in the end can make you more oily because its absorbing all the natural oils. When you take away natural oils, your skin produces so much more oil. You only need a little bit of setting powder!!! Also, a compact one you could keep in your purse and reapply during the day 🙂
