foundation help!!

I need some advice! I have oily combo skin mostly oily. I have tried setting spray, primers I CANNOTTTT find foundation that doesn't move after 3 hours. it not only moves, but it goes into every crease which makes me look much older and it shows all my texture on my skin. I AM LOST. i just want to find some foundation that will stay on my face and actually still look good!!! it looks great right when i put it on and it looks like crap after just a few hours. if i blow my nose my makeup comes right off!! or even if a finger or anything touches my face.  DOES ANYONE HAVE ADVICE.this has been a struggle for my entire life to this day .
tell my any tips, products whatever. thanks so much!! I prefer vegan cruelty free products. I have a lot of scars i try to cover too. I have asked people at sephora, but no good results. I just want a good face Smiley Sad  i liked the rhianna matte one but may foundations seem to turn orange after an hour.

Re: foundation help!!

I really love the beauty blender foundation, I have acne prone skin and it is amazing. Not to mention long wearing! BEAUTYBLENDER - Bounce™ Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation - 2.30 W

foundation help!!

I highly highly highly recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation for oily skin! I have super oily skin and this has been my ride or die for years now. You will obviously need to set wherever you crease with a setting powder still, then I also pat the rest of my face with a powder as well.

Re: foundation help!!

Hey there:) I think it would be good if you didn't skip moisturizer, otherwise your skin compensates by producing more oil, same when using alcohol based toners.

I have really oily skin too and the ole henriksen balance line really helps balance the skin to produce less oil, check it out if you please 🙂

For foundations, hourglass immaculate has clay on it so it really keeps you matte, also the powder after primer then powder again after foundation trick has helped me in the past.

RE: Re: foundation help!!

I’m going to try this - I’m new to foundation and just learning. Thank you for sharing

RE: foundation help!!

The hourglass “liquid powder” foundation keeps me matte all day and I have really oily skin. It’s expensive and you have to work fast to blend it because it dries really fast. But get a sample and try it out 🙂

Re: foundation help!!

Hi @elaine1991 ,

I tend to have this same issue as well. One thing that I started doing is applying  a setting powder on top of my primer before applying my foundation. I have been using the Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer 0.7 oz/ 20 gand I have been applying  the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Longwear Setting Powder Translucenton top of that. The foundation that I have been using is the LANCôME - Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation. Then I also apply setting  powder on top of my foundation. This seems to keep my foundation lasting even longer.

I hope this helps!

Best Wishes,

Janean

Re: foundation help!!

Thank you for the tips!! Def going to try and see if it works for me.

Re: foundation help!!

@elaine1991 I also use the primer>setting powder>foundation>setting powder method that @JaneanBT mentioned and it does make it last longer!

Also, sometimes if the ingredient bases of the primer and foundation aren't the same, they'll break up faster (like oil-based doesn't get along with water-based, etc.)

Re: foundation help!!

I didn’t even know that! Wow. I wonder if that’ll make a huge diff for me. Thanks for the advice!

foundation help!!

I have the EXACT same problem, have you found a routine that works for you yet?

RE: foundation help!!

I have the same problem and have tried this with most foundations. Do you use setting sprays more than once or at all?

Re: foundation help!!

No! I wish! Not yet!! So frustrating

RE: foundation help!!

The best foundations I’ve used for oily skin other than the one fromFenty Beauty is the Makeup Forever Matte Velvet & MAC Pro Longwear.

Re: RE: foundation help!!

I loved the fenty but it oxidized on me so bad! I haven’t tried the others. I’ll def try and see if they work for me, thanks!!

Re: foundation help!!

What's your skincare routine look like, @elaine1991? I'd recommend starting there to help get the oiliness under control. As far as foundations though, I love L'Oreal's Infallible Pro-Matte, Tarte's Amazonian Clay, and L'ancome's Teint Idole. My preferred primers come from Becca and I'd recommend looking at a primer that isn't a "mattifying" one if you're using a matte foundation. Too many matte products can dry out your skin and cause it to, in turn, produce even more oil.

Re: foundation help!!

I use a primer and sometimes moisturizer, also setting spray and translucent powder. I have the poreless, smash box and one from tarte the primers. I have tried those foundations. a lot of things tend to oxidize on me thats why its also hard to try it all. I will be trying the recommended ones thought because i need some better makeup that works for me! thank you!

Re: foundation help!!

It sounds like you're trying a lot of makeup options, @elaine1991, but I actually meant what your full skincare routine is to help with keep the oil at bay. Is it just occasional moisturizer then? No cleanser, serums, exfoliators, sunscreen?

Re: foundation help!!

I forgot to add the drunken elephant of vitamin c

Re: foundation help!!

I moisturize at night. I don’t very much in the day. I use first aid with red clay cleanser. I try to use my drunken elephant at night but I don’t every single night. I use Clinique toner as well. I have acne prone skin so I have to use my curology nightly. That’s about it.

Re: foundation help!!

@elaine1991  A lot of that is probably contributing to your oily skin then. Clay cleansers will dry out your skin, so I wouldn't use that one every day. I'd look for something cream-based for regular use and then only use the FAB red clay a couple of times a week. Personally, I've had good luck with Philosophy's Purity and FAB's regular facial cleanser. Next, the Clinique toners have a ton of alcohol in them that is really bad for drying out skin (which can cause it to over-produce oil). I'd ditch that completely. I'd switch your vitamin c serum to your morning routine so as not to interfere with your curology products. And since so many of curology's treatments involve some sort of exfoliation, you really need to make sure to moisturize day and night, plus wear sunscreen every morning.
