concealer

so i have oily skin with acne and was wondering the type of concealer and setting product i need to use? i dont have under eye bags. i want something that will help with the acne, redness, and the oily skin!

Re: concealer

I also have oily skin, and my go-to concealer for covering acne marks is the radiant creamy concealer by Nars. It's a full coverage liquid, similar to Urban Decay's Naked concealer in coverage & consistency, but I think the UD one has a more matte finish (like, I didn't feel the need to set it with powder), whereas the Nars has a "radiant" finish (which seems more like a natural finish when I set it with Laura Mercier's translucent setting powder). If you want to skip the setting step, I'd try Nars's soft matte concealer. It has the same kind of coverage without the radiant finish.

When I have a pimple that literally won't stop oozing (please tell me we've all been there... 😛 ) I use Tarte's Amazonian clay waterproof 12-hour concealer on just that spot. It's fast & easy to apply, but I don't use it alllllll over because it's kinda heavy and doesn't seem to mitigate the oiliness. I'm not necessarily *recommending* this approach; I'm just saying when I'm having a really nasty breakout, this gets me out the door in the morning.

Also, check out the Cover FX mattifying primer, which has a bit of salicylic acid in it, so it's great for oily, acne-prone skin. This was an oily face game-changer for me.

Hoping you find something that works perfectly for you! 🙂

Re: concealer

I've had good luck with the MUFE Full Cover concealer for touching up discolorations or breakouts on my face and Lancome Maquicomplet for under eyes and face breakouts (but it is less full coverage than MUFE). Sometimes just an extra dab of foundation on a particular area is enough with a setting powder.

I'd recommend the concealer from Cover FX. It's a non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic brand so it won't upset your skin by further clogging pores. It comes in a great range of shades so there's something for everyone. Don't forget to set your concealer and prime prior to applying it. Are you also treating your skin w anything? What's your routine like?

RE: concealer

I have extremely oily skin and my favorite concealer to use is the tarte shape tape! You can use a setting powder to mattify the product on the skin after you apply. My top 2 powders are the Laura Mercier translucent and the Kat Von D Lock It setting powder.
