Oily skin ๐Ÿค”

Hi, so I'm a new beginner for makeup ,  I noticed that my face is oily and I need something to like hold the coverage very well. People say primer works well but I want to know based off you guys opinions of where to start. I also have blackheads and I have acne too and I break out as well. Not as much but I would like some info on this.): btw it gets more oily throughout the summer because it's hot outside so it makes my skin look more shiny and not that good looking.

Re: Oily skin ๐Ÿค”

You didn't mention if you had a skincare routine (cleansing, treatment for your acne etc) butyou may have this decided already.

Primers are a great way to hold back oil and keep foundation from sliding around on oily skin.  The ingredients need to work with the foundation (example, a water-based foundation should have a water based primer; silicone based foundation, a silicone based primer or else they don't play nice together). There are two primers I  love for water based, oil-free foundations - depending on how much oil you have and your skin tone.  For very oily skin, Becca Ever Matte - it's tricky to use, warm it between your fingers and gently pat it on your oiliest areas.  If you are darker skin toned, this isn't good option because it will leave a slight white residue.  My other favorite is NARS Pore and Shine control primer.  if you use a silicone base foundation, then Benefit POREfessional is my favorite; but I'd try the trial size as silicones can congest pores for some people. Benefit is also lovely used on it's own under just an oil absorbing powder, if you need to run errands and don't want a full face of makeup. Set your foundation with a light dusting of setting powder (not a lot to avoid a cakey mess), then spritz with a setting spray (my favorite is Urban Decay De-Slick).  Blotting papers are an oily girl's BFF.  I use Clean and Clear or generic drugstore brand - I can go through about 5 of these per day in summer, I live in hot, humid climate.

Re: Oily skin ๐Ÿค”

I recommend trying a mattifying primer. There are a lot of options at Sephora.

These are some of my favorites:

1. MILK MAKEUP - Blur Stick

2. BENEFIT COSMETICS - The POREfessional

3. TRESTIQUE - Magic Mattifying Balm & Blotting Sheet Duo

4. Korres - Pomegranate Mattifying Primer

5. MAKE UP FOREVER - Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer
