Oil control products

I have very oily skin and I don’t like wearing full coverage foundation. I got Murad oil control and Armani face fabric, but it seems like I still need to use blotting papers during the day. Any suggestions?

RE: Oil control products

Just a heads up, sometimes we produce a lot of moisture in certain areas, so it seems we have oily skin, but it’s just your body trying to give moisture to the dry areas that we don’t notice on our skin. Olehenriksen sheer transformation moisturizer is a good moisturizer to use for oily skin/ combination skin. It will help moisturize the whole face, and control your oils. Using to many oil control products will feel dry that your body will start producing moisture, because it feels in needs it. So then your back to square one. Moisturizing your whole face will tell your body your already moisturized, so it won’t produce as many oils. You can go into any Sephora and they can check your skin moisture with their moisture meter, so you can target where your more oily and if you have any dry areas☺️

Re: Oil control products

Hi @Janergb,

I suggest the Olehenriksen Balancing Force™ Oil Control Toner. It really helps balance your skin, which in turn helps with oil control. It does not irritate the skin and leaves it feeling soft and clean

I also suggest the belif Hydra Sebum Control Essence. This essence is very light weight and sinks into the skin quickly! It helps decrease sebum or oiliness in the skin!

I hope this helps!

Best Wishes,

Janean

Try out the Naked Skin foundation by Urban decay. Super light on the face, not a full coverage, and semi matte longwear finish. It will help with the shine☺️

Re: Oil control products

I second the suggestion to make sure that your skincare is squared away.

It looks like the Armani Face Fabric contains fragrance, linalool and hexyl cinnamal which could be irritating your skin and making it more oily. You might try a tinted moisturizer that is fragrance free and doesn't have potential skin irritants in it.

As far as actual oil absorbing products, I really like the hourglass veil primer. It's the only primer I've found that actually makes a difference in how long my foundation lasts. The Becca Evermatte primer is excellent at absorbing oil, but I found it a little hard to work with.

Re: Oil control products

Do you have a skincare routine, @Janergb?  Oily skin really needs a consistent routine of cleanser, moisturizer, etc to be kept in check.

RE: Re: Oil control products

Yes, I use drunk elephant B-Hydra serum and la mer moisturizing. They said my skin overproduces more oils because the lack of hydration. Do you have any suggestions about skin care routine? I’ve tried OLEHENRIKSEN c-rush too.

Re: RE: Re: Oil control products

You didn't mention any cleansers, @Janergb, so I would start there. With makeup, I'd highly recommend doing a double cleanse- starting with an oil-based makeup remover like Shiseido's Perfect Cleanser and then following with a gentle cream cleanser like Philosophy's Purity or First Aid Beauty's Facial Cleanser. Since hydration is an issue, you may also want to add in a hydrating toner in addition to the serum and moisturizer. Clay masks, like Caudalie's Instant Detox, are also great to use a couple of times a week to help control the oil!
