Help!! Oily skin and Fenty foundation problem

I recently purchased Fenty foundation in store as I was looking for a medium to full coverage long lasting foundation for oily skin. The Sephora employee recommended fenty foundation hands down. I was so excited to try! I got my correct shade and couldnโ€™t wait to get home to try it out. Before applying my foundation I do the usual cleanse, tone. Moisturizing of my face. Then I put on my benefit poreless primer. I wait for that to sit in. Then with my damp beauty blender I apply my new foundation.. I really try blending it in my pores and dabbing it in my skin with my beauty blender. It looks like patches on my skin and it do not blend in my skin but rather just lightly sit on it. I wear glasses and when I take them off you can see the foundation buildup on my nose. I can take my finger a just touch my skin and the foundation comes up. I do not get a seamless, flawless look with it. I have tried applying and doing different things but it always looks splotchy and do not absorb in my skin whatsoever!!! I really want to love this product as right now Iโ€™m so disappointed and feel I have wasted so much money it! Any advise or tips will really help!! Ps. I have tried just wearing it as is. With setting powder, setting spray, and both powder and spray and nothing is working to get a nice blend on my face as well as actually staying put for longer than an hour! ๐Ÿ˜ž I hope someone can help me because right now I am hating this product!!

Re: Help!! Oily skin and Fenty foundation problem

Hi, I also have oily skin especially in the summer months.  In the winter, I use the Farsali Skintune Blur Perfecting Primer Serum.  But, in the summer, I use the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer with really good results.  I am not a professional, I have tried different things and this is what works well for my oily skin!  Hope this helps!

Re: Help!! Oily skin and Fenty foundation problem

It just sounds like you have oily skin and summer increases that.  Oil doe build up around glasses. You need to add in oil control products. Like a oil control primer  Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer 0.7 oz/ 20 g

Some really oily skin type even use Milk of Magnesia as a primer. I use a oil control mist in the summer OLEHENRIKSEN Balancing Forceโ„ข Oil Control Toner 6.5 oz/ 193 mL

Finally you need to set your face with Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Makeup Setting Spray Standard Size - 4 oz/ 118 mL

Avoid products that say dewy or radiance

FYI you could ask for a sample of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer 1.08 oz/ 32 mL

And try Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder 0.3 oz/ 8.5 g

Or blotting papers. I am thinking the benefit primer is not meant to control oil. My poreless concealer feels oily

Hmmm may to look at a new primer then.

Re: Help!! Oily skin and Fenty foundation problem

I haven't used that particular foundation so I can't comment on how it wears. You could try it without the benefit primer, personally I'm not a huge fan of that primer. You could also try using a brush instead of a beauty blender it might give you a more even coverage which you can then go over with a beauty blender to soften it. If none of those things help, return it and try something else. Right now I'm really liking the Hourglass Vanishโ„ข Seamless Finish Liquid Foundation Porcelain Ifind it lasts really well on my skin, has good coverage and a weightless feel to it. Though reviews on this one are super hit or miss so I'd really recommend grabbing a sample before you buy. I've also had really good luck with the LAURA MERCIER - Flawless Lumiรจre Radiance-Perfecting Foundation - 1N1 CremeIfind the wear time on this one is really good as well and it has a more "skin like" finish. I have more combination skin with an oily forehead and nose and really dry cheeks/jaw line so I tend to avoid really matte foundations that will emphasize dry patches on my skin.

Re: Help!! Oily skin and Fenty foundation problem

Hi! Don't panic we will find a way out! Smiley Happy Firstly maybe the foundation does not match your benefit primer Maybe you should try putting it on without the primer or use a setting powder on top of it. My personal favorite is the Laura Mercier one

Other than that, if nothing of the above works go for another foundation. I have oily/acne prone skin and the only make up that settles on my skin without causing extra oilness or looking cakey is the La Roche Posay Toleriane Mousse. Medium to high coverage with a total matte finish.

Good luck! Smiley Wink
