Foundation not lasting

I seem to have dehydrated oily skin at the moment, and I noticed my face seems to soak up my foundation because a couple of hours after applying it, it looks like never applied any. please help.

Re: Foundation not lasting

Your skin care is very important. Make sure you have all the basic steps for your skin type, and to not overdo it with exfoliants. I use Differin Restorative Night moisturizer at night, which is an acne-safe moisturizer that is actually replenishing, and Paula's Choice Youth Extending Daily Fluid spf 50 during the day (if I'm wearing makeup) on top of Elf Holy Hydration Thirst Drops, or just on top of a hydrating toner from Cerave. I let that sit for 5-10 minutes.

Then I use a long-wearing, self-setting foundation with a natural-matte finish (Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin) applied with a sponge for light coverage and spot conceal with Nars Creamy concealer. Then I set my whole face with a light layer of loose setting powder (I use a brush under the eyes to get a lighter application there, but  a triangle puff for the rest of the face). I buff in or stipple powder bronzer and powder blush, and finish with a powder foundation to blend any hard edges or tone down blush. Then I spray my face with Elf stay all day blue light setting spray, let that dry and then powder my t zone with a Silica powder (Nyx Hd Studio finishing powder).

Sometimes I just wear concealer (Tower 28), and I apply a bit of it in the general area where I want it, spray a fluffy foundation brush with setting spray and then buff all that in for medium coverage, and follow with the rest of the steps.

Im thinking of adding a hydrating spray before spraying with the Setting spray.

But this lasts super well. I take with me a mattifying lotion, blotting sheets, and blotting sponges. Mid day and in evening I blot and warm of some of the mattifying lotion on my hands and apply it on t-zone.

Re: Foundation not lasting

OML same, I use drug store makeup but like the expensive stuff like L'Oréal and Revlon, and idk it just absorbs within an hour. I use ELF Hydro Grip primer, I dont have setting powder atm, and use the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray, and it never stays on, same with blush, contour bronzer, anything, even eyeshadow. I feel your pain, girl!

Re: Foundation not lasting

@Nuvis24 @Are you using a mattifying face primer? Also what foundation are you using?

Re: Foundation not lasting

What's your routine @Nuvis24 ?

Are we using primer? if so,  is it a gripping one or a mattifying one?

Setting Powder? Spray?

What's your foundation?

Skincare? Are you using too much where your skin produces excess oil?
