Exfoliating for Oily Skin

I'm currently only using a scrub for exfoliation but wanting to branch out and test other products. I'd love to know what is your favorite product(s) and/or routine for exfoliation. I want to hear about it all . . . scrubs, peels, serums, whatever you're loving!

Re: Exfoliating for Oily Skin

@theblancnieve I wouldn't recommend using physical exfoliators. I used them like, a lot, when I was a teenager, and now I feel like my skin is so rough. When I started using chemical exfoliators, my skin got so much better!

So, the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Extra Strength Daily Peel Pads 30 Treatments + 5 Bonus with the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM Night Serum 1 oz saved my skin for years. The peeling has AHA's and BHA's, which help exfoliating your skin, in multiple levels. The retinol also has vitamin C and E, and s any retinol, it has many benefits (treats wrinkles, dark spots, acne, large pores etc). I

I also started using the FARMACY - HONEYMOON GLOW AHA Resurfacing Night Serum with Hydrating Honey + Gentle Flower Acids, and it makes my skin really silky and plumped.

If you have sensitive skin, always go slowly and test products first in a small area of your face, to be sure you won't purge or have negative reactions.

There are many other products that contain BHA's and AHA's, it just depends on what you prefer using.....as you can see, I prefer serums, but you also have toners, masks, etc. Try to explore the Korean products too! They are way more affordable and have great results.

Thank you for your response. I have been eyeing the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow for some time now but I've been a little chicken to try it out.

Re: Exfoliating for Oily Skin

@theblancnieve I use a bunch of different chemical exfoliators that mostly include glycolic acid and other AHAs, as well as salicylic acid.

1. Toner - glycolic acid (Pixi Glow Tonic 5% or The Ordinary 7%) - both of these are pretty gentle and can be used daily

2. Liquid Exfoliant - salicylic acid (Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% Liquid) - I use this one at night after the glycolic acid toner

3. Serum - AHA/BHA (Herbivore Glow Potion) - I use this one daily in the morning after my vet C serum

4. Peel - AHA/BHA (Drunk Elephant Baby Facial or The Ordinary Peel) - I don't use these more than 2 times a week.  The Ordinary peel has a very high concentration of AHA/BHA and does sting a bit.

5. Peel - fruit enzymes (Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel) - this one is probably gentle enough to use 3 times a week.  You apply the gel and massage it in, and watch little balls of dead skin and dried gel roll off.

6. Peel - lactic acid/fruit enzymes (Kate Somerville Exfolikate) - this one also contains a bit of grit, so it acts as both a chemical and physical exfoliator

7.  Physical exfoliator - aluminum oxide crystals/lactic acid (Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator) - I love using this one because it really helps my serums sink in.

Have fun!

I like to rotate the products, and typically don't use the chemical peels more than 3 times a week.
