Breakthrough oil...grr!

In the AM I cleanse, tone with witch hazel, apply an oil-free mattifying moisturizer, use a tinted primer with spf 30+++, use a bronzer and blush, then finish with a setting powder, and oil-free setting spray. No problems with eye makeup, but within 2 hours I have breakthrough oil! Any suggestions??

RE: Breakthrough oil...grr!

I had the same issues. The only thing that has truly worked for me was changing my Skincare routine, not the makeup itself. My Holy Grails are my Clarisonic, Sunday Riley Luna and Good Genes as well as Martian toner. After the first week, I noticed a HUGE difference in my oil production and I never changed my makeup.

Re: RE: Breakthrough oil...grr!

Interesting... I haven't tried the Clarisonic, although I hear a lot of beauties rave about that device.  I have tried Sunday Riley's good genes and luna oil.  I received several samples of the good genes (on my last one), however just a small sample of the luna.  Just enough to try for 2 days.  I almost bought the set that contains both products which was $65 at the time, now it's $85!  I've seen a set from Sunday Riley that has the Martian toner in it, as well as 2 other products; U.F.O. oil and a sulfur mask for $65 at Sephora online.  The Martian toner alone is $55, however that doesn't mean I wouldn't give all that a try.  Thanks for sharing what you use!

Re: Breakthrough oil...grr!

I used to use a mattifying moisturizer too (the Murad oil-control mattifier) but I found that over time this didn't moisturize my skin enough and my skin would start producing more oil. Now I just use a lightweight moisturizer and a mineral based sunscreen. I will still get oily but usually towards the end of the day. I've had good results with the Tatcha sunscreen and the Cane+Austin mattifying primer with spf.

Re: Breakthrough oil...grr!

That sounds like a good idea as far as trying to use a light weight moisturizer in the AM, instead of everything being oil-control.  Because, in the AM after cleaning my face, everything I put on is oil-controlling!  So, I could understand why my glands would go into overtime in order to moisturize my skin!  I've been using the cane+austin spf +++ 30 primer for almost a year now. At first when I started using that primer, I was amazed because it's tinted, therefore I used it as my foundation, then Maybelline's instant age rewind concealer, setting powder, bronzer, blush, and de-slick setting spray.  Life was nice and oil controlled for at least 6-8 hours!  Now, my face becomes super oily within 2 hours.  Now, I have an opportunity to try hourglass mineral veil primer that I received as a promo; we'll see.  To be continued....

I basically do your same AM routine, I honestly dont thin...

I basically do your same AM routine, I honestly dont think anything one product will completely take the oil away but I do blot lightly with paper towel about every hour when at work also a good clay mask, I like the Fresh one.

Re: I basically do your same AM routine, I honestly dont thin...

Your probably right, there really isn't anything that will control oil production completely, maybe just tame it a bit.  And yes I do carry Kleenex tissues with me to blot when necessary....sigh.  What kind of clay mask would be good to use?  I use origins charcoal mask to keep my pores clean which is nice.  However, if by chance you come across something amazing...send it my way!  Thank you for your support!
