how to prevent chipping nails

Hello! These are my real nails and they have been long my entire life. I hate how short nails look and feel on me so I prefer this but recently my nails have been chipping and are feeling brittle. Does anyone know how I can prevent this from happening? I hate having to cut down my nails whenever one breaks.

@Edithgworlll17 Protective nail polish is the way to go! However, if you have a problem with biting nails they make a polish for that but it gets in your mouth and if you eat food it does not taste good because of that polish.
