Nail soaks

Ok I have a question for you I found a nail soak recipe on Pinterest using coconut oil and salt it does not say nothing on if it is done daily or every other day. So for those of you that do nail soaks do you do them daily.?

Re: Nail soaks

@Tina30219 What are trying to accomplish? What kind of nail issue are you trying to address?

FWIW, mixing salt and coconut oil is counter productive: oil is moisturizing, salt is a natural exfoliant, but it can be drying. I’d recommend using sugar instead.

You should be exposing your nails to excess water or exfoliating. Think of them like what they are, living, growing things. Soaking in water will help loosen dead tissue on the surface and make it easier to remove, but it can also cause the nails to become brittle from expanding to accept the water, then drying out.

Re: Nail soaks

@Chris38   I am trying to strengthen and grow my nails they are always chipping on the side mainly my thumbs and no I don’t use my nails as tools. I was taken biotin but heard bad things about it so stopped. I am going to get some hair skin and nails gummies seen good things about them.

Re: Nail soaks

@Tina30219   If you’re eating a relatively healthy diet and not avoiding any food groups, a supplement won’t really do much. Sorry to say.

I found a way to help grow thicker nails that might sound kind of silly. First, trim all your nails pretty short, and stop any filing. Find yourself a thick, plush pillowcase made of velvet and every morning and night drag your nails down against the nap for a minute. The resistance from the fabric is strong, but still gently stimulates the nail bed to grow thicker. Keep them cut short until the new growth makes it way up the length of your nail, so generally several months. It’s slow, but it works.

Re: Nail soaks

It really depends I do everyday or every other. But whatever you think is best for your nails.😊
