Tween Makeup Recommendations (11-13 year old)

My tween granddaughter wants makeup for Christmas.  I've agreed to mascara, tinted lip gloss, a little inner eye twinkle and a sheer blush.

Her skin is perfect, so far, but she's starting to get some little red bumps on her cheeks, so I want to make sure I get a GOOD product that will not clog up her pores for that delicate young skin.

Any suggestions on brand/product (and color for a young light-complected girl)?

I also want to get her some skincare product(s) that will ward off any impending pre-teen acne.  I used Noxzema at her age (yes, they still make it!), but wonder if there are better options.

A good "my lashes but better" mascara for anyone is ILIA Limitless Lash Lengthening Clean Mascara After Midnight . It's available in a mini tube as well as full size. 

Consider a shade of  Tower 28 Beauty ShineOn Lip Jelly Hydrating Non-Sticky Lip Oil Coconut  for lip gloss, or perhaps even a shade of Kaja Heart Melter Lip Gloss Stick—though I'll say some of the Kaja shades are more boldly pigmented than others. I've never tried Kaja Gloss Shot Hydrating Lip Gloss but that's another option. 

For a little inner eye twinkle, maybe one of the  Kaja Eye Bento Bouncy Eyeshadow Trio  would work. 

And since I've now got Kaja on the brain, their Kaja Mochi Pop Bouncy Blush  is buildable. Note that each shade is shimmery, though. If you want a sheer matte shade, tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush  is a good option. 

Skincare can be super simple, and I'm a fan of drugstore/Target options (my own routine is a mix of drugstore, mid-range, and higher end—but not super expensive—and I'm 50): 

1. Gentle cleanser (PM; optional for AM since not everyone needs to wash their face twice a day)- CeraVe, Vanicream, and Cetaphil make good ones. A few times a week, she could swap out her usual cleanser for a salicylic acid cleanser like CeraVe Acne Control, or the even gentler CeraVe SA Cleanser. When using a salicylic acid cleanser, it's best to lather it on the skin and let it sit for a couple minutes before rinsing it off so the active ingredient has time to do its job. 
   
   
2. Moisturizer (AM & PM) - those 3 brands I mentioned also apply here. 
   
   
3. Broad spectrum sunscreen (AM) - minimum SPF 30, applied liberally to all skin exposed to sunlight (eyelids, ears, behind ears, nape of neck if exposed, etc.), all year long, regardless of weather or season. Some sunscreens can double as moisturizers, which makes this daily routine even shorter. If your granddaughter doesn't already use sunscreen, now's a great time to get her in the habit. Which one's "best" is very subjective, but it can be any type (chemical, mineral, or hybrid) since they all work largely the same way and one type's not necessarily safer than the others.

@ilenea i would consider the CLINIQUE Must-Have Makeup Set ! Clinique is a hypoallergenic brand good for beginners and the black honey lip balm is a super well loved sheer product that is flattering on a lot of people. Their blushes are easy to work with.

Or if you think powder would be better, tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Paaarty has several lighter shades and even comes in a mini! The formula is very easy to work with. And fresh Sugar Lip Balm Hydrating Treatment  is a pretty and hydrating product !
