Makeup separating on face (Advice needed)

Hello, I am a very infrequent makeup user, and need advice.

Whenever I try to use foundation or concealer on my face, it almost looks like it separates on my faces. Almost looks like it is going to flake off my skin. I do have dry skin, but I have a good skincare routine and prioritize hydration and moisturizer, and my skin barrier.

Anyone else have similar issues and can provide some advice? I have tried many different brands and different formulations, it all happens the same. I almost feel like I am not meant to wear makeup, but this is coupled with never getting a good foundation match, even in store.

This is me using liquid foundation, not a lot but a decent amount, then patting in with a brush

@MackieRose Do you layer too many products on or put too much?  Sometimes that could cause it or oil based skincare with powder makeup products.

Hello!

Not generally, I double cleanse, toner sometimes, 1 serum and then moisturizer. I only do this skincare at night. Never have an issue with pilling as I give each product time to soak in.

When I do my makeup, I really just wash my face with water, sometimes using a light cleanser and a light moisturizer. Thats all my makeup prep I do.
When I do put on makeup, I don't put too too much. I have tried compact and liquid and both look the same

@MackieRose Are you using products (skincare and makeup) for your skin type?

Re: Makeup separating on face (Advice needed)

Pretty sure? My skin is pretty clear and even.

With foundation I am unsure. I have tried multiple brands of liquid and compressed foundations
