Glow

Hi everyone ! So it’s winter and freezing ( I’m in IL literally 0 degree weather) and my skin is looking dull! I’m asking for recommendations for products that will give me a glow ? I’m very subtle with my routine I mainly do skin care ( I have the innis beauty eye cream and the duo redness serum/corrector, Sunday Riley good genes, and belif water bomb moisturizer . I only really put makeup on my eyes ( shadow and liner) and I just picked up iconic prep-set-go and I am so obsessed with it it’s very pretty and smells great but I feel like it’s not giving me the glow I want ? I really don’t want any foundation or concealer, and tbh not sure how to even use highlighter without looking like I have baby oil on my face 😅 mainly I want to avoid that. I’ve tried some tinted moisturizers in store but it just didn’t do anything for me . Thoughts, suggestions and/or anything would be helpful ! ☺️

Re: Glow

Hi @vp215! I’m also in IL (Chicago). Hope you’re staying warm! We’re supposed to get a heatwave of 40ºF on Friday, woo-hoo! 😂 Of course that’s predicted to change to single digits a mere 3 days later, but still!

My secret to glowy skin in the frigid depths of winter is sunscreen. Not a matte finish sunscreen; one that leaves a natural skin, radiant, or even dewy/glass skin finish. Do you currently use sunscreen? My usual winter go-tos:

  • Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA +++ for a natural skin finish (I have mostly-dry combo skin; this sunscreen always makes my skin look good)
  • Supergoop! Protec(tint) Daily SPF Tint SPF 50 Sunscreen Skin Tint with Ectoin if I want a little skin tint to blur the lines between my skin tones
  • SKIN 1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50 for a more radiant glow, but not super dewy; this is a Korean sunscreen you’ll find at K-beauty retailers (YesStyle, Olive Young, Stylevana, etc.)
  • Eucerin Age Defense Sunscreen SPF 50 for even more glow; now we’re getting into seriously dewy territory
  • Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 40 (aka “the Unseen Sunscreen dupe”) which my skin likes in cold weather for its heavier greasier feel (extra moisturization/protection against cold winds)
  • La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-In Milk Sunscreen SPF 100 for glass skin; this sunscreen does feel greasy, but people will stop you and ask what you’re doing to make your skin so glowy

Other than sunscreen, consider LANEIGE Cream Skin Refillable Milky Toner with Ceramides and Peptides (don’t let the word “toner” fool you; like many toners these days, this one’s more of a watery hydrating serum), Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist 2.53 oz/ 75 mL, or Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops Serum. And/or you can try a facial oil like The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for Skin Elascicity 1 oz/ 30 mL or The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane for Skin and Hair Hydration 1 oz/ 30 mL; you probably won’t need more than 2-3 drops rubbed between your palms and then pressed into your skin. Rosehip oil is hydrating while squalane is moisturizing.

Re: Glow

I tried the dew drops at the store and it does the same thing my Iconic prep set and go does and leave a slight shimmer but u only see it in certain lightings tho

Re: Glow

You should check out Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops Serum @vp215 I think this gives a nice subtle glow 🌟
