Dry Skin

I have super super dry skin, but love playing with makeup. Any suggestions on moisturizers and foundations?

RE: Dry Skin

Embryolisse - lait-crème from the drugstore! $39 for 75 ml!! This is my go-to especially in winter! My house is dry and working from home, I’ve been using it quite a bit. Most expensive brands have sooooo much fragrance that those products don’t do much for me.

Re: Dry Skin

For dry skin, I would recommend the Moon Juice collagen boosting one as I find it to be very moisturizing (so much so that I only use it at night on my combination skin). I have heard that Drunk Elephant's F-Balm water facial mask is excellent (I do not have direct experience with this product though. Drunk Elephant's moisturizing serum with B vitamins as an add on to your moisturizer and/or serum would be great. If you use serums, I would say that the vitamin C one by Peter Thomas Roth is great one. Moon Juice Cosmic Cream™ Collagen Protecting Moisturizer 1.7 oz/ 50 mL, Drunk Elephant B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum with Hyaluronic Acid 1.69 oz/ 50 mL, Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C™ Vitamin C Power Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL, Drunk Elephant F-Balm™ Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask 1.69 oz/ 50 mL

Re: Dry Skin

I've been experiencing dry skin as well, I did try the First Aid Beauty package as someone else said, it was great at first but then made my skin irritated. Spoke with a specialist at Sephora and they recommended I use products with their clean stamp of approval - they also said the fragrance could be bothersome to me in the first aid beauty, since i thought they were clean products.

Got a sample of the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream and fell in love, now Im using the face-wash as well. Going to try the eye cream next.

Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Moisturizer 1.7 oz / 50 mL

TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser

TATCHA - The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream

Re: Dry Skin

@Lyn88 my holy grail product for hydration SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask.  I use it at night as a moisturizer and leave it on until morning.  I know some people use it in the morning as a primer, but I haven't tried this myself.

Re: Dry Skin

My skin used to be soooo dry. I always cared more about makeup than I did skincare because nothing worked anyway. I ended up buying a First Aid Beauty package and fell in love! My skin is so much better and doesn’t hurt anymore. It’s not the most expensive line and it’s great for sensitive skin. In order, I use the First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL, First Aid Beauty Hydrating Toner with Squalane + Oats 6 oz/ 177 mL, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Hydrating Serumand  FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair® Cream Intense Hydration. I also use the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads to exfoliate (but only once a week or so). Definitely recommend!

Re: Dry Skin

Hey @Lyn88 ,

I also get really dry skin sometimes. One of the things I look at is if I am over treating my skin with my skincare products and the serums and treatments I put on. I am not sure if you are using any AHA/BHA, but sometimes I’ll take a night off of those and just moisturize. Drunk Elephant products have worked really well for me. I have been using this brand for about a year and a half. I also really like Paula’s choice products, particularly for the cleansers and SPF mineral moisturizers and eye creams. Paula also has a wonderful line of body care products, one of them being a retinol body cream.

As for foundations, I always look to ingredients to check and see if there are any irritating products, then I choose. I am a big fan of Beautypedia to look at skincare and makeup reviews. They also have an ingredient lookup section if they dont have a review on the product. I also love DRUNK ELEPHANT - D-Bronzi™ Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops to give subtle glow. I also find that it provides me with a little coverage. I’ve had the same tube for over a year so a little goes a long way.

I have the following products for my complexion that I use depending on coverage, the season (I tan easily), and how my skin feels.

Glossier Face TintbareMinerals COMPLEXION RESCUE® Tinted Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Mineral SPF 30 Cashew 3.5NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 St. Moritz, and Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Oil-Free Foundation 7.8 for foundation options. I find heavier options dont really help my skin. I have also had MAC Waterweight Foundation in the past, it is like a serum and gives light coverage. I have also recently tried ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Skincare Foundation Kokkini ST12 as well. I am waiting for my full size bottle to arrive, but so far I have loved the results.

I hope this helps you.

Re: Dry Skin

Hey! So I have really dry skin, and a topical acne medication has recently made it worse. My go to moisturizer is the tarte drink of h2o. It’s water based and has a gel like formula. It really helps with my dry skin. Hope that helps!

Re: Dry Skin

Hi! I've been using the Embryolisse, Lait-Creme Concentre Moisturizer for years now! It's super hydrating, but also makes the skin looks much more plump. The great thing about this product is you can also use it as a primer for makeup. After I'd been using it for a few months I noticed celebrity makeup artists swore by it. Sephora doesn't sell the brand, but shoppers carries it. Happy shopping!
