Depotting UD Heavy Metals Palette

I just depotted my palette with minimal issues. This palette is big and clunky so I couldnโ€™t wait to depot it. Hereโ€™s a little tutorial/inspo:

First I took the insert out of the box.  Then I heated up the back of the insert with a space heater which caused the palette to warp a little.  From there, I pried the back of the insert off with a screw driver.  Not pictured: I put the tray on a piece of tinfoil and then put the tinfoil with the tray on a stove top burner on low.  As the tray melts, I take a fork to push the plastic down and expose the tray. I popped the shadow pans out from there.  I also got a little assist from rubbing alcohol I put in a craft syringe and squirted into the palette to help loosen it up and make it easier to remove from the plastic tray.  I also used rubbing alcohol to take any residual glue off the back.  Finally, I stuck the pans into a double sided z palette and am very happy to report it fit perfectly in one side with another depotted smash box palette.  It was meant to be!

Very informative @itscarin! I've always been afraid to use heat to depot, I always just use the threading method.

@suzyo I tied to google this but I couldnโ€™t find anything about the threading method of depotting. Well I found one thing but it wasnโ€™t very clear and there were no pictures. Do you have any more info on this?

@itscarin The best example is a YouTube video makeupbytiffanyd made years ago. It might actually be called the flossing method, try searching that.
