As 2021 comes to a close, it's time to think about what your 2022 will look like Beauty-wise. What are you goals? P(l)ans? Brands to try? Brands to avoid? Low buy? No buy?
Let's use this space to record our goals and check back in along the year. Drop by as often or as sparingly as you want to check in and encourage each other. All goals/resolutions welcome!!
Thanks so much!! It will be great graduating college, less stress, more income, less money going to tuition!
I agree with consistency, I've been slacking off a little bit with that part of my routine and am suffering the consequences! what are your go to products?
mine are:
Aveeno, smooth moisture face wash
I use a honey toner (I forget the name but I'll check and edit this)
Aveeno eczema care for a moisturizer
The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane, Signs of Aging Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum for Oily Skin
and some nights after my niacinamide treatment I enjoy Slugging lol
Mental health is a huge thing for me, I've started taking medication for it and have found a councillor I feel safe with not to mention having a great support system, no matter the size, has been a huge influence on my ability to stick with things and take the next steps, even if they are intimidating!
What has helped you with your mental health the most?
@k3ara if you want a certain someone to see your reply you can hit the @ symbol and a list of recent names should pop up. This will give a notification to the person that you've replied to them. You can also see any of your replies with a little red dot over the bell icon top right side of the task bar.
Health- I mostly want to fix my sleep schedule. Since I usually don't work until the afternoon, I find myself awake at 4 am on a regular basis and it needs to stop. I want to get back into doing yoga consistently as my body feels completely different once I'm going. My boyfriend outfitted the garage into a home gym over the holidays so hopefully that'll motivate me to workout consistently as well.
Beauty- I want to try and use every single item I own this year. If I keep skipping over something, I'll know it's time to let it go. I'm usually pretty good at decluttering so I want to keep that up this year. I want to go on a low-buy (with exceptions for PMG and ND, my true loves). I was doing really well last year up until the Friends & Family sale, then it all went downhill. I usually allot myself a specific amount ($100) and roll it over to the next month if I don't spend it. NO SKINCARE! I bought so much last year, I should be fine until the end of the year or at least the next Black Friday.
@makeitup305 -- right there with you. For whatever reason, this past couple of years I tend to skimp on some skincare needs while having multiple, needless back-ups on others. So done with that mindset.
Here's to sleeping better!
Souns great! I found when I started getting in of a routine of going to bed earlier I would naturally get up early. My partner wakes up at 5:00 am to go to work and I started to wake up at the same time to get walk in the morning before I go to work!
WOW!!! 5am, that's really early, you must have a lot of nice time to yourself before work! Waking up earlier and sleeping earlier is a great idea, I'm slowly going to aim for that, slow stress-less mornings sound fantastic!
@haleyvvvv I actually have several resolutions this year. Beauty-wise, I think the most do-able is to get better with tweezing my eyebrows regularly. In the most recent months I've waited for several to grow in. They don't look crazy by any means, but it's easier to do them more frequently. I think I need a new tweezer to help the process along.
I'd also like to get back to wearing makeup to work (although I don't miss taking it off!). However, I don't see that happening until they let us stop wearing face shields. It's just too much with all that garb on.
@greeneyedgirl107 -- I wish I ever had to tweeze again, haha. Getting back into a fuller makeup habit myself finally-- but I still only do my eyes when I'm leaving the house, I don't feel like bleaching my masks all the time.
@greeneyedgirl107 The eyebrow goal is something I should be doing! Thanks for the reminder! I am in the same habit as you. I have been wearing makeup to work. It just makes me feel more like myself and I enjoy having it iin my routine. Thw only unfortunate thing is my lip product wnds up on my mask. I love wearing lipstick so much!
In no particular order, here are my basic beauty goals:
1) Use every eye palette I have. After re-categorizing some of my stash as quads not palettes (since they are), and getting 5 more as holiday gifts, I have 75 eyeshadow palettes. Which leaves room for a few more but let's not go there.
2) Get back into a regular lash habit. Used to, way back, but now it's just for extremely special occasions, which makes it seem difficult when it's not. Time to get back in practice!
3) Use, consider, and declutter my eyeshadow singles. I like to make up my own mini palettes with singles but even so, some never get used, and need to go.
4) Deal with my eyeliners: so many are old enough to not be worth keeping, but I have to go through them and see. Then decide how many colors I actually want/use.
5) Like @lmaster , wanting to step up my daily skincare. Being a caregiver intensely last fall took a toll on my self-care, I've been doing just over the barest minimum, and my skin is now drier than it's been for years.
6) Clean, consider, and declutter my entire makeup collection-- I don't see myself ditching a ton, but it's been a while since I went over every category with a critical eye. I'll make use of my seasonal pans in Pan it! 2022 to help me decide what needs to go in a couple of sections.
7) More makeup playtime--
That's plenty for now.
Decluttering is a fantastic goal! I bet you will feel so much better mentally after things are cleaned out and organized!
I recently just did mine, got rid of an eyeliner pencil I've had for a few years too many!!! 🙊
@k3ara -- I've ditched about four ancient dried up items in the last few days. None too soon, my makeup storage is kinda full.
@heavyhedon. re. #4, 6 & 7: Same here!
Especially 2 MJ eyeliner pencils I bought x months ago- olive and blue- gorgeous, but limited longevity.
Adding to my '22 Resolution list: keep that Vanity-table au courrant and nice n' tidy!
@MvLL --pics of the vanity table are worth extra pts!
re. Vanity Table pix - heh, when it's 'Mission Accomplished' maybe, but not sooner, though I dig Before n' Afters. I also ought to acquire a 'helmer' cab at some point.
I really really need to go over my singles too ughhh I just really don't want to go there 😂 @heavyhedon
I have a goal of using my products!! Staying to a Low Low buy!! Sticking to my skincare routine regardless of negative temperatures 🤣 when it's bitter cold outside,,, I tend to want to not move much
I want to do a low buy too! Trying to just take advantage of sales!
@lmaster -- I'm on a low buy, too, but super low when it comes to eyeshadow & blush, and absolute no buy in regards to highlighters.
I mean seriously,,, everything should be a no buy for me right now 🤦 @heavyhedon they just market so good
