As 2021 comes to a close, it's time to think about what your 2022 will look like Beauty-wise. What are you goals? P(l)ans? Brands to try? Brands to avoid? Low buy? No buy?
Let's use this space to record our goals and check back in along the year. Drop by as often or as sparingly as you want to check in and encourage each other. All goals/resolutions welcome!!
@lmaster -- IKR? Found myself looking at some brand's nude lipsticks yesterday and melting over a warm baby pink-- which I have at least 5 different ones in different brands. But the pictures!!!!
I know!! @heavyhedon packaging usually gets me 🤦
I feel like I have a huge list of goals for this year. Let’s see if I do any better at sticking to them this time around. 🤦🏻♀️
Firstly, I have no self control so I think I’ll have to put myself on a complete no-buy for beauty products (less the basics, brow pencil and mascara). Even limiting my spending, I’ve rerouged three years in a row when I was hoping I wouldn’t. I would like to be able to allocate those funds for something that may be more beneficial for the home— like a new mattress.
Committing to spend more time on the BIC and not just being active for fleeting moments here and there. I’ve gotten to a point where maintaining relationships is exhausting (thank you, customer service!) but at the end of the day, even with my partner and my cat, I’m lonely? A few posts here and there is an easy step in the right direction.
I started writing and roleplaying again. That makes me feel moments of joy so I’ll be doing that more frequently. I also started reading more and this year I set a goal of nineteen books. Is there any room on the BIC book club for me? 😂
Health wise, I need to change a lot. I’m still in good shape but being with someone who’s as health conscious as Ak has made me aware that I am… not. I need to cut out a lot of processed foods, depend more on real nutrition. I need to eat (and drink) less sugar. I need to keep drinking more water. I need to find a fitness routine that works for me. Maybe in the new year, I’ll finally check out that dance studio that opened up downtown. COVID permitting, of course.
Brands I want to try?
That goes against a no-buy, huh? 💖 I really would like to try my hand with Kayali fragrance or Lawless Beauty. I’d like to rediscover a great drugstore mascara.
I managed to go the whole year without supporting J* so that was a thing I accomplished out of my 2021 goals.
@Nickelliebear1 -- feeling that too-- I used to eat fresh, from scratch food almost exclusively, but that gradually changed, and I want to change it back. FYI, when I asked my rheumatologist if there was anything I could do to help my arthritis from a dietary standpoint, she said: Cut the sugar; sugar causes inflammation. So you're being very smart there, avoiding future problems.
Great goals, & I applaud your no-buy year!
@Nickelliebear1 - Regarding the BIC book club, a number of us continue to post books we've read that others may enjoy. If someone is looking for book suggestions, we provide recommendations. Definitely stop by! You'll find plenty of books to get you started and book lovers to chat with! 😊📚📱
@Nickelliebear1 All the best with your goals in 2022! As long as we are trying right?
My goals for 2022 are:
Grow my hair and not colour it anymore. Learn to embrace the few greys I have and possibly more soon.
I have started walking in the morning before work which gives me energy. I want to start walking after work. Walking helps me clear my mind and it is the one form of exercise that I enjoy.
Drink more water like a lot of you mentioned.
Saving money by creating meal plans, not eating out as often and another big factor is not re rouging. I really have everything I need in the beauty department. Therefore I am going to work on panning.
I would like to read more. I used to read before bed but now I find myself 'scrolling'.
Be a better partner and mother.
Overall I want to be more intentional in all aspects of my life. I am thankful for my health and happiness and want to use everything to make myself stronger in 2022.
@Mellmars1185 Some great and thoughtful goals 🙂 Loved reading through your list. Wishing you all the happiness and goal-getting in 2022!
Hahaha I love this @RavenR . This is so me 😂🤣
@RavenR So true! This is me some days. I make so many impulse buys before bed.
@RavenR Hahah! So relatable, trying to resist the urge but... 😁😂
Happy New Year, @haleyvvvv! 🎉 My goals / resolutions for the year are:
@itsfi have you looked at those cushion sunscreens that they have on K-beauty sites? I've always been intrigued as to how they perform. Seems like a good way to not completely mess up your makeup if you're wearing any.
@makeitup305, the sun compacts are good if they don’t leave a white cast and if they work well enough with the makeup to not pill. I prefer mineral sunscreens which more times than not will leave a white cast. I used a sun compact last year that seems like it might work in the winter when my skin is more on the fair side. I plan to try out a few cushion compacts again this year as well as those sunblock sticks and sprays. A work in progress…
I've tried the Supergoop brush sunscreen and I think it did ok-ish but it's a bit drying on my skin. All those sprays have so much alcohol, I haven't convinced myself to use them.
@itsfi Those are some great goals. I'm working on a couple of those myself. New year, new mindset. 🙂
@QueenMarceline, yes! I like that. New year, new mindset. 😀
