Need a solution to this lip question to answer this once and for all!

Hi there!

I have been researching for months, checking different brands, going to Sephora, asking employees, asking beauty advisors online, but no one can give me an answer that I'm looking for. They always say it's either lip tint, some type of gloss, Dior gloss, matte lip etc. but it's not what I'm looking for.

I'm trying to understand what kind of lip products these celebrities use, I notice it was very popular in the 90s, where it looks so natural. It looks like your lip, and the texture is very specific. It's sort of like a soufflé texture, but it's not so soufflé that it's super matte or thick. It's definitely not gloss, because it doesn't look glossy, but the texture seems like a sheer/souffle cream. Or could it just be lip liner? It just looks supple, and soft. Like you bit your lip to where the blood is flowing and it looks plump. But I know they put some sort of lip product. I don't think it's lipstick because lipstick is more visible and thicker, and more defined. Can anyone give me ANY solutions to what this lip is? I hope you know what I'm talking about, all the pictures seem to have achieved this lip! It's almost so natural it looks like there's nothing. A lot of "your lips but better" lipsticks still show as lipstick, it doesn't really look like your lips but better. The cracks on the lips still show when wearing this and I like it because it makes it look natural! Lipstick would hide the cracks. They just look like natural lips but I know they have something on! Help!!

BY THE WAY: I have already tried all the lip tints, glosses, matte lips, etc. but they always either come out a bit too orange or a bit too red/pink, too brown, it's never my color. If it is my color, the texture is wrong. It ruins the "natural" look I want. I resorted to just putting a very very light lip tint (so it doesn't turn too orange or pink), and then I put some vaseline on top. But, the supple texture is missing because vaseline doesn't have that "volume" that some more quality brands have in their formulas that make your lips look supple. I like the Dior lip glow, but the colors are a bit bright, and it is a little glossier. Another one I love is the Chanel rouge coco baume, but yeah none of it is equal to what these ladies have in these pictures for me!

I lived in that era. The reason you’re getting so many different answers is there’s no set answer. Neutral and natural lips were the thing in the 90’s. It was the colours they put out. Also I work in social media in the entertainment business, lighting, filters, makeup artists all combine to create looks not achievable by the public. Hope that clears it up a bit. Likely not what you were hoping to hear, sorry.

@Awong547 It could be so many things the makeup artist is doing. Like a lipstick or liner close to their lip color and then blotting the excess off. It could also be a sheer or satin lip color. You have to also remember that everyone’s lip pigmentation is different. Mine runs more pink/flushed.
