It’s one of the Beauty Insider Community’s favorite holidays, so we’ve decided to celebrate all month long… by giving away FIFTEEN $200 (USD) Sephora e-gift cards, all in the name of the lippies we love! Whether you prefer yours in traditional bullet form, liquid, or cream (or somewhere in between!), we want to know which lipsticks have your loyalty – and telling us about your favorites could help you win big! 

Between July 1st and July 29th at 11:59pm Pacific Time, comment on this thread by hitting “reply” below to tag a favorite lipstick, lip stain, lip gloss, lip balm, lip treatment, lip liner, or other lip product and tell us what you love about it! To tag a product, type the “#” symbol followed by the name of the product, then select the product from the pop-up search results to tag it! Don’t forget to hit “post.” 😉  

By replying with your tagged lip product AND the reason why you love it, you will be entered to win one of fifteen (15) $200 (USD) Sephora e-gift cards!  1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS SWEEPSTAKES OR TO RECEIVE A PRIZE. A PURCHASE WILL NOT AFFECT OR IMPROVE THE CHANCES OF WINNING.  This sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) is subject to all applicable laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ENTRIES RECEIVED. 

2. Sponsor:  Sephora USA, Inc., 525 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, www.sephora.com (“Sephora” or “Sponsor”).  
   
3. Eligibility:  Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States (including Puerto Rico but excluding Guam and all other U.S. and foreign territories and possessions not otherwise mentioned herein) and Canada (excluding Quebec residents) who are 18 years of age or older and the age of majority in their state, province or territory of primary residence as of the date of entry, and who is a registered Sephora Community member (no purchase or payment is necessary to register as a Sephora Community member). To Enter:  To enter the Sweepstakes, view this National Lipstick Day Sweepstakes post (the “Sweepstakes Post”) in Sephora’s Beauty Insider Community in the Conversations section (community.sephora.com) during the Sweepstakes Period, and post a written reply on the Sweepstakes Post with your answer to the question posed in the Sweepstakes Post (your “Submission),” which includes your reply and your Sephora Community username).   Your Submission must also tag a lipstick, lip stain, lip gloss, lip balm, lip treatment, lip liner, or other lip product carried by Sephora (“Sephora Lip Product”) as instructed in the Sweepstakes Post.   

In addition, your Submission(s) must comply with all of the Submission Requirements listed below. Posting of your Submission(s) constitutes your unconditional acceptance of these Official Rules.   

Submission Requirements: Your Submission(s) must comply with these Official Rules, including all of the following Submission Requirements: 

• We do not require a specific format for your Submission, however your Submission must be responsive to the questions posted in the Sweepstakes Post, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion.   

• If your Submission includes a photo, you must be the only person that appears in your Submission(s) or you must have obtained all necessary permissions from any other individuals in your Submission(s). 

• You must own all rights to the Submission(s).   

• Your Submission(s) must not contain any visible logos, drawings, cartoons, photographs, pictures, phrases, or trademarks (other than those of Sephora or the brands we sell) or other content or materials that you do not own, or for which you have not secured all necessary rights. 

• The Submission(s) is your original work (modifying, enhancing or altering a third-party’s pre-existing work does not qualify as your original work), and has been legally obtained and created, does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party, or violate applicable laws, or regulations, has not been entered in or won previous sweepstakes, contests or awards, and has not been published previously in any medium (other than on a website where you retain the rights to use, modify and remove the Submission(s).     

• The Submission(s) must not contain any libelous or defamatory statements or discriminatory language, or other language not suitable for a public forum, including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group (as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion). 

• The Submission(s) must not contain any nudity, lewd, hateful, vulgar, indecent or obscene behavior, language or material (as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion), or any other material that is unlawful, harmful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in any jurisdiction where the Submission(s) is created, invasive of another's privacy, trolling of others, abusive, tortious, threatening or harassing to any individual, partnership or corporation, racially or religiously biased or offensive, or is otherwise deemed by Sponsor to be objectionable or otherwise unsuitable for a public forum.   

• The Submission(s) must not contain any images of medical conditions or claims of medical effectiveness, or any critical comments about other images posted on Sephora’s Gallery or their authors.  

• The Submission(s) must not contain any advertisements, "junk mail," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes,"  “spam” content or references to other products, offers or websites, or any other form of solicitation. 

• The Submission(s) must not contain any email addresses, URLS to other websites, phone numbers, physical addresses or other forms of contact or personal information. 

• The Submission(s) must not contain any computer viruses, worms or other potentially damaging computer programs or files. 

• The Submission(s) must not impersonate any person or entity, including, without limitation, any Sephora official, forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity. 

• Your Submission(s) otherwise complies with Sephora’s Terms of Use (https://www.sephora.com/beauty/terms-of-use).     

Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify any Submission(s) that does not comply with these Submission Restrictions or that Sponsor otherwise deems to be inappropriate in its sole discretion. In the event of disqualification, the Submission(s) will not be entered into the Sweepstakes.   

By uploading a Submission(s), each entrant understands and agrees that the entrant’s Submission(s) may be accessible for viewing by the general public and any such posting will be deemed made at the direction of the entrant within the meaning of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (US) and the Communications Decency Act (US).  Entries that do not comply with the Submission(s) Requirements or other provisions of these Official Rules, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion, may not appear in the Sweepstakes Post’s thread.    
                              

Entrants are permitted to enter the Sweepstakes once per day during the Sweepstakes Period, provided that each entry must contain a new Submission that tags a different Sephora Lip Product.  Use of multiple email addresses/accounts to enter more than the permitted number of entries is prohibited. There may be only one (1) named entrant for each Submission, regardless of the number of persons who may have contributed to the creation of the Submission.
  

In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the Sephora registered account of the entry, which the entrant will have the obligation to establish. Entries generated by a script, computer programs, macro, or other automated means will be disqualified. Sponsor is not responsible for late, incomplete, misdirected, delayed, or undelivered entries, or entries not timely received due to telephone failures, Internet or website failures and disruptions, and ISP problems. Incomplete information may result in disqualification of entry. All eligible entries carry an equal chance of winning. 

4. Sweepstakes Period:  The Sweepstakes begins on July 1, 2021 at the time the Sweepstakes Post is posted, and ends on July 29, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PT (the “Sweepstakes Period”). Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. PT on July 29, 2021.    

5. Selection of Winners:  Fifteen (15) potential winners will be selected from all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period in a random drawing conducted by Sponsor on August 2, 2021 and will be notified by private message via the Community platform. (Winner announcements will occur at a later date after all the winners are confirmed.)  Potential winners will be required to provide Sponsor with their full name, mailing address, telephone number and/or date of birth, and will also be required to complete, sign and return an affidavit/declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release. Canadian potential winners must also correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question in the manner specified by the Sponsor, and may be required to complete additional tax forms as requested by Sponsor.  For US residents, the winner may be required to supply Sponsor with his/her social security number for tax purposes, and complete a W9 form.  A winner’s prize will be forfeited upon the occurrence of any of the following:  (i) the potential winner fails to confirm eligibility and acceptance of the prize and return any required documents within three (3) days of notification, (ii) the return of a prize or prize notification to Sponsor as non-deliverable; (iii) if the potential winner is Canadian, failure to correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question in the manner specified by the Sponsor; or (iv) the determination by Sponsor that winner is ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules. If a potential winner forfeits a prize or is deemed ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected by random drawing from all remaining eligible entries until a winner is determined.  If any alternate similarly forfeits the prize, Sponsor will use a reasonable number of attempts, in its discretion, to award the prize to another alternate but if it is unable to do so, the prize will be finally forfeited and Sponsor shall have no further obligation to award the prize.  All decisions of Sponsor are final and binding on all entrants.  Limit one prize per person/household.  Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.  

6. Prizes:  Fifteen (15) grand prize winners will each be awarded a grand prize (“Prize”) with an approximate prize value of USD $200 (for Canadian grand prize winners, this amount will be converted into Canadian dollars when used on https://www.sephora.ca). Each grand prize consists of a $200 USD Sephora e-gift card. Prizes are non-refundable and non-transferable, cannot be combined with any other special offer or promotion and must be accepted as awarded. Sponsor is not responsible for replacing a Sephora gift card prize if lost, stolen, mutilated or is otherwise rendered unusable due to any act or omission of prize winner or any party other than Sponsor. Redemption of gift card prizes is subject to the terms and conditions thereof. Prizes may not be exchanged for cash value or substituted, except that Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute with either the cash value of a prize, or a prize or prizes of equal or greater value. Prizes are provided “AS-IS” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, and sponsor hereby disclaims all such warranties, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.  Applicable federal, provincial, state, or local taxes and any other costs or expenses associated with the prizes or the use or redemption thereof is the sole responsibility of the winner. The prizes will be awarded, and will be delivered to the confirmed winners to a valid U.S. or Canadian address after the determination of the winner. 

 
7. As a condition of entering this Sweepstakes, you warrant and represent to Sponsor and the other Sweepstakes Entities the following: 

THAT YOU OWN ALL RIGHTS TO YOUR SUBMISSION(S);

By submitting a Submission(s), you grant to Sponsor a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicenseable, and transferable right and license to display or modify your Submission(s) on Sephora's websites and social channels, and to use it in accordance with Sephora’s Terms of Use (https://www.sephora.com/beauty/terms-of-use), and hereby agree to waive any of your moral rights in connection with your Submission(s) in favor of Sponsor.  You understand this means that your Submission(s) may be utilized and distributed by Sponsor in its marketing materials, including but not limited to, a winner announcement on the Community showing your username and Submission, Sponsor websites, Sponsor emails, social channels, and store materials.

By participating, each entrant agrees to comply with these Official Rules and agrees that Sponsor is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of entries in the Sweepstakes. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or tampering with or hacking of, the web site or any technical failure or malfunction, or any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property.

If, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned because of circumstances including, but not limited to, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes, which, in Sponsor’s sole judgment, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, in their sole discretion and determination of fairness, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes and, if possible, to select the winner from entries received prior to such event or interruption. It does what it should as a long lasting colour on my lips and blends well with lip gloss or stick (whatever 2nd coating I need, with out staining the 2nd layer’s cosmetic’s stick.) it blends with only what’s applied, and comes off easy with oil cleanser.

So, about that chronic bleeder I mentioned in my last entry: Urban Decay Vice Hydrating Lipstick shade Firebird, my favorite blue-flip fuchsia shade. It’s one of the most comfy feeling Vice lipsticks. It looks stunning. And it has a crazy need to bleed. I remember the original pre-Vice formulation not bleeding or even slightly feathering, so I dunno what’s up with the Vice version. But I can never wear the Vice formula Firebird without a lip primer barrier around my lips’ edge. I usually add a lip liner as extra anti-bleed insurance. I've decluttered other lipsticks for major bleeding/feathering issues, but I can't let go of Firebird. I love this shade too much. 

Last year, I bought Vice shade Jilted (which I’d never tried before because, to me, it looked too much like Firebird) to see if it’s better behaved. This is me reminding myself to test Firebird and Jilted against each other. Meanwhile, Firebird remains my beloved troublemaker. 

While I’m thinking of UD Vice bullets: I’m also a big fan of Bad Blood. And I still like Heroine, though I have better blues in my lipstick hoard.

Birds of a feather flock together 😉 From my recollection, Jilted had more of that iridescent flip, but it's been a while since I've worn Firebird and I actually didn't realize they were similar until you mentioned it. @Guessgal  Lipstick twins! 🙂 Tonight I finally put Firebird against Jilted. In their tubes, they look quite different: Jilted looks warmer and rosy while Firebird looks fuchsia and cooler toned. They look more similar on my lips, but Jilted does still look warmer and rosier with a subtle blue flip. Firebird can't hide its blue flip, partly because it has a cooler base color.

Also, Firebird began to feather within 20 minutes of these photos. 🤣(I didn't bother using primer or liner tonight.) Jilted stays put. 

Let me know if you did your own comparison! I should also do some hand swatches of these 2 along with NARS matte Funny Face and Black Up satin 22. I'm sure 22 has a stronger flip than Funny Face, but maybe not as strong as Firebird. I might do that during daylight hours tomorrow .

@WinglessOne Okay, I loved seeing your comparison!! I had a very similar experience, right down to the feathering 😂 had to clean up the edges of Firebird with some concealer. Oddly, Firebird stained my lips a lot during removal, whereas Jilted did not. I also cursed myself for not using a lip brush… I guess I’m not used to the rounded curve of Jilted’s bullet since it’s been a while. Funny thing is, I always felt Jilted was wonderfully loud and unique in my collection, but you’re right! Pitted against each other, Firebird does have more of that iridescent flip. I went out for a walk over the weekend and noticed both colours look the same in the sun. It’s only really indoor lighting where I can see a slight difference.

This was fun! 🤗 Like you, I might try swatching these against something similar in my collection. Only other one I can think of may be Marc Jacobs Plum n’ Get It

My favourite is Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Glass Slipper  I like this product because it is worth the price. It is long lasting and doesn’t come off very much if you are eating or drinking something. And comes in a clear or other colours for a slight lip tint.

Glow Recipe Glow Lip Pop Lip Balm Watermelon is the perfect everyday lip balm since it slightly exfoliates dead skin but feels super hydrating with a slight tint!

For a grab and go lipgloss with some plumping (also great for no makeup days). DIOR Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Plumping Gloss beige or pink are my go to shades. Rosewood if you want some color.
