Bite Beauty - Allergic Reactions?

Anyone else have an allergic reaction on their lips to Bite Beauty products? I know they have all natural ingredients, which is why I'm perplexed. I've tried two different products from them and end up with eczema-like cuts on my lips.

Yep, and some organic pesticides are worse than the synthetics.  Where we get our CSA some crops are non-certified organic and some are conventional or a combination.  It's all about overall practices and that takes a smart, honest farmer.

Re: Bite Beauty - Allergic Reactions?

I once listened to someone present their research of fruit fly interaction with sliced organic vs non-organic papaya.  With the organic papaya having fewer flies landing on it (leading to less egg-laying, fewer maggots, etc.), you had to wonder, "Why?"

If there were natural (non-synthetic) pesticides applied, they were more effective in preventing pests.  Could they be more carcinogenic?  Last longer in nature?

If there were no natural pesticides applied to the crops, was the papaya creating its own natural pesticide to protect itself, so instead of washing off the pesticide, we might instead be consuming it?

Then I was like, organic just means it's made of carbon.  Dam* Marketers.  LOL  (Remembering Ichabod Crane at the farmer's market in "Sleepy Hollow.") 🙂

Re: Bite Beauty - Allergic Reactions?

Also true!

USDA regulations say very little about pesticide use. They more specifically prohibit synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, and "genetic engineering" in farming. Pest control is very much an organic farming grey area.

Re: Bite Beauty - Allergic Reactions?

Well, this is interesting.

After six months of something weird and painful going on with my lips, about 5 minutes ago it dawned on me that the only lip color I have worn during that time is bite beauty lip tint. I just now googled the issue and came up with your post.

According to my amazon order history, I ordered my first bite beauty lip tint about 2 weeks before I then put in a desperate order for healing lip medication to address sudden onset  painful chapped lips, which have since become chronic. The only reason it clicked with me today is that I am suffering through a particularly uncomfortable and unsightly flare up after wearing the bite beauty lip tint upon return from work after a lipstick-free vacation.

I'm going to quit using it for a month and see what happens. I almost hope it is not the product, because I LOVE IT. But then again, its better than the other health problems associated with chronic chapped lips. I was starting to wonder if I was dying....

Re: Bite Beauty - Allergic Reactions?

Haha, you are funny mc77005. Thanks for your reply! It makes me feel better that maybe someone is in the same boat as me. I used the lip tint only 2-3 times before my reaction started this time. Last time, I was using the clear night treatment and it was very, very painful as I used it for longer not knowing what the cause was. Good luck and feel free to report back if your chapped lips go away after stopping the product! I have found that using just vaseline at night will help get rid of the damage. Other products seem to make the issue worse before it goes away.
