Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

Not sure what category to put this under. But I have very sensitive skin. I just got out of the shower and put my new 5 layering piece Laniege skin care on. (Foam cleanser, toner, essence, moisturizer & sleep mask) I'm very very red and blotchy. Could it just be sensitive skin because I'm not used to the product? It feels great but my face is very warm and red now lol. It's been on about 20 minutes.

I know the pictures are haggard I'm hideous w/o makeup hahaha. But I'm very very red.

Has this his happened to anyone else with sensitive skin or should I wash it off?

Re: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

I immediately washed it off and used soothing oatmeal lotion. I always get blotchy after I shower so to me I couldn't tell if it was the product or my skin. After it started getting really hot I realized this wasn't normal haha. I also took allergy medicine just in case. Thank you ladies! Will be returning it to sephora.

@Thrifty1 I hope you have washed your face and applied so...

@Thrifty1 I hope you have washed your face and applied something soothing or aloe based or even taken an antihistamine. You do appear to be having contact dermatitis.

Re: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

That definitely looks like a reaction to me. I would wash off!

If you would consider reusing any of the products to see which you're OK with, only add in one new product at a time going forward and add other things only when no reaction is seen. Using 5 new products at once makes it very, very difficult to determine which is the culprit (as well, whether it's just a single product or interaction between products). I'm sorry this happened to you!

Re: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

Thank you so much you're so kind! That's actually a really good idea! Honestly so bummed because it felt great while putting it on! 😭

Re: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

I have had similar reactions to sheet masks before. It can become very irritated if you don't wash it off and treat it. I'm naturally very red on my cheeks and I have very sensitive skin so I recommend always spot checking anything you put on your face before using a regular amount. I would highly recommend keeping a bottle of Benton Aloe Soothing Gel on hand. Anytime my skin feels even slightly irritated I put some on and it immediately takes away any discomfort or extra redness. I really think this product is a must-have for sensitive skin!

Re: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

Thank you so much! I will definitely have to follow suit 💞 Sheet masks usually make me somewhat red as well. Not so much blotchy but kind of burns, y'know? Ahh sensitive skin 💔

Re: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

I'm glad to help! Girl, I feel you😅 Anytime I find a sheet mask that doesn't make my redness flare up I order it in bulk lol! Just in case you need to know this, I have found that sheet masks that have aloe or honey as one of the main ingredients won't irritate my skin. My skin still gets really warm feeling but no redness or burning. Good luck to you😄 I know finding a skin care routine when you have sensitive skin can be frustrating!

RE: Sensitive skin or allergic reaction?

Hey @Thrifty1, you should immediately wash your face. I believe your skin is experiencing an allergic reaction to the product. If your skin continues to be red and irritated, apply products with healing ingredients like aloe and moisturize, especially with products containing ceramides. This will help restore the natural skin barrier.
