Rouge Makeovers Going Away

I posted this in the Rouge discussion as well: I saw this sign at my local Sephora today (a large location in Northern Virginia). It’s the first official statement I’ve seen from Sephora about the status of Rouge makeovers in 2020.

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

What a rip-off! This service alone was the one reason I aimed to maintain my Rouge status. I'm going to Ulta.

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

It was easy to spend a bit more on make up at Sephora when the consultants showed me what a difference it made. Now that that’s gone I’ll just go somewhere else. So sad. I wonder how it’s going to affect the company. We would go in groups and make it a girls night.  Everyone bought stuff.

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

Hi @JLN33 I couldn't be more with you! I was extremely disappointed to learn about this in December and it's really made me limit my spending at Sephora and look directly at product lines websites/stores. I don't really care to maintain my ROUGE status if our spending and contributions to their company isn't at the very least met with grattitude. I started another email thread called: Email/Letter Campaign: Let's get our ROUGE Benefits Back (https://community.sephora.com/t5/Rouge/Email-Letter-Campaign-Let-s-get-our-ROUGE-Benefits-back/td-p/...). I would be so grateful if you would visit my post, like it and send in a letter to Sephora CS like I have suggested. Every voice matters! Maybe if we combine all of our feelings and efforts, we will make a change to their recent changes!!!!

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

@JLN33 I can tell you it is getting REALLY disappointing at Sephora. If you spend $1000+ (I spend closer over $2500) what are you really getting as a thank you? Two samples don't do it. All the higher point rewards are sold out immediately. The only perk that I really felt I was getting for being a loyal customer was the makeovers. Now I have to pay for that? Fine, guess I'll just save my routine purchases for the days I need to have my makeup done. Really sad that Sephora feels it doesn't have to thank loyal customers anymore.

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

I thought the same thing - that I'd just save up for a couple routine purchase when I wanted my makeup done (ie. family events/weddings). However, I emailed to clarify if the $60 fee was for the make-up being done or if it was a $60 product  purchase required for makeovers (as in the past for non-Rouge) and was told that the $60 fee is just for the make-up to be done. An excerpt from the email is below:

I am very unhappy about this change, amongst the others. The makeovers were one of the only perks I used. Now I see no point in trying to maintain Rouge status or be loyal to Sephora.

This is SOOOO SAD

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

@JLN33, I just looked at the services page, and at least for my area, it seems there is a $120 charge for the 90 minute full face makeover, but it still lists the 60 minute deluxe face makeover as free with a $50 purchase.  The store closest to me has zero deluxe face makeover appointments available, even during the week (I only checked through March though).  One other store close to me has a few during the week, but the next available Saturday appt is not until March 14th.  What I am taking from this is that some stores are probably no longer offering the deluxe makeovers at all and that other stores have drastically reduced the number of appointments that they offer.  Either way, Rouge, VIB & Insider will all have to make that $50 purchase to get the 60 minute deluxe & all will have to pay if they want the 90 minute full-face.  😕

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

I chose two 60-min makeovers as my VIB benefit and now completely regret it 😞 There is zero availability in the four locations near me on any given weekend for weeks out! Sephora makeovers were the only reason I split expenses last year instead of going for top tier at Ulta. I'm so bummed out.

RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

What a kick in the pants. There is NO WAY I’ll pay for a makeover. I’ll take my money and pay a freelance makeup artist if I really need the service. I’ll save money not working to get to rouge status.

Re: RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

I paid for one of the makeup sessions.  It was supposed to be festive, party makeup for my birthday.  Dark brown & black eye makeup + overdone blush and lumpy foundation does NOT equal festive.  Don't do it.  They don't have makeup artists who can provide $120 worth of value.

Re: RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

So what you are saying is that you will pay another makeup artist for just a makeover? You do realize it is still free with a $50 purchase. Our Sephora is wonderful...every artist I have ever had I'm always happy with the results. Sounds like some don't have a very good sephora to me. Sounds like some think they could do a better job , if that's the case why do they even go?

Re: RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

@Anonymous

Free with a $50 purchase is being phased out. It's completely gone in my area, and makeovers here are now $60 for 60 min or $90 for 90 minutes...that's a $60 or $90 fee, not purchase requirement.

RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

Exactly. Some of the makeup artists at Sephora are not even that good. I’ve gotten my makeup done several times where it was mediocre work I could’ve done myself or I had to fix things like liner. Had I paid cash for that kind of work we would’ve had major issues. It was free so I didn’t complain much. U can’t charge $90 that they’re asking for ($120 in California) for artists that can’t even command that price in their regular lives based off their lack of skills

Re: RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

Same @Melbabe!  I liked getting them for trying out new products without having to buy them first & for getting introduced to new higher end brands (wouldn't have discovered Natasha Denona if not for the makeovers), but I would never risk getting it done by them for a special event. I've had some that were bad enough I didn't even want to walk around the mall looking like that, let alone go out or to major event.

RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

Yes someone from Sephoras management has please confirm the validity of this update

RE: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

Thank you for posting. From what I can gather, Sephora is no longer going to offer free makeovers for Rouge or free makeover with $50 purchase. I miss loving Sephora.

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

@JLN33 I haven’t seen this sign in store and I know we’ve all bee wildly speculating as to whether or not these services would go away. @BrendaBT since you just posted about the makeover, can you confirm that effective 1/1/2020, rouge will no longer get free makeovers?

Re: Rouge Makeovers Going Away

I saw a similar sign to that mid-December and I was about $200 away from my Rouge status and I said Eff it, the makeover perk was the only thing I used and if they are taking that away I'll just get my makeup at Morphe....I wanted to try JSC anyhow, so here a good chance.
