Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

Hoping to spend under $30! She doesnโ€™t wear much makeup and doesnโ€™t like sheet masks! Any ideas?

Fresh has some great gift sets for $25! You could do either a soy skincare set, great for any skin type. Or, I got a lip trio, the box looks like an ornament too

RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

Anastasia liquid lipstick

RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

My mother in law loved when she got Philosophy lotion and it comes on so many different scents!!!!

a festive candle and mild scented lotion is a good present that says "I care but didn't know what to get you" (if she has hair that can be tied, add on an invisibobble ornament they are pretty new and can spark conversation next time you see each other)

Re: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

@RedRoseGirl If she likes perfume Sephora has several favorites sets that are $25. They have a few different samples and a voucher and you can exchange it for the rollerball of your choice. The Sephora Favorites Pro Artist Picks is $30 and is also nice- it has a face mist, a cleanser, an eye cream, a moisturizer, a lip balm, an SPF, and a peel sample.

I would check out any of the skincare sets as well as Sephora has a 25 & under section on their website check that section out too. the laneige sleeping mask set is a very good deal and are wonderful products also under $30.00

RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

BITE Beauty liquid lip or lipstick. They have some really nice nudie/"natural" colors that even a barely-there makeup routine could match. Plus, this brand is usually very hydrating which is great for our colder months. Best of luck to you!!! ๐Ÿ’–

Re: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

@RedRoseGirl Bath sets are always a safe bet. Bath and Body works always has great sets. Any type of self care items i'm sure would be appriciated. How about a gift certificate for a Manicure/Pedicure? That's a lovely gift.

Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

anastasia beverly hills, metalic lip gloss. makes other lipsticks pop. best lip gloss I have ever tried. I use them daily.

RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

Most women over 40 (and Iโ€™ll assume the mother probably is) donโ€™t wear metallic lipsticks. #KnowYourAudience

Re: RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

The ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS - Lip Gloss are more sparkly than metallic and aren't lipstick, so I've wouldn't rule them out as great gifts. Also, I would have to disagree with women over 40 not wearing metallic lipsticks. I've met so many women irl and on BIC that looove everything sparkly or shiny. My mother won't even wear a lipstick that doesn't have some sort of sparkle to it haha. It all depends on the the preferences of the person recieving the gift, so I don't think it's bad to suggest something different. @flamingolegs

Re: RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

The OP stated that the mother doesn't wear much make up.  So why would you buy make up for her?  Lip balm, yes, I think most everyone uses that at some point.  But make up--particularly one that is sparkly or shiny for a person who doesn't wear much makeup?  Why would anyone even think that was appropriate?

By the way, I'm almost 60 and wear lip gloss.  I like a little shine.  But there's a huge difference between that and metallics or anything glittery.

Re: RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

@flamingolegs The OP said she doesn't wear much not that she doesn't wear any.

Re: RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

I realize that, but think about it.  Women who don't wear much makeup are not going to wear metallics.  Most days I use a touch of finishing powder, a touch of blush, a hint of brow powder, mascara, and some sheer lip gloss.  That's pretty typical for most of my friends who are over 40.  And adding glitter or metallics to that look?  Just think about it.

Personally I think buying makeup for someone is a foolish idea unless you know exactly what they wear.  It's just too personal and too challenging to choose colors and such for others.

Re: RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

@flamingolegs

Generalizing about you and your friends is one thing, but turning around and applying it to "most women over 40" or "women who don't wear much makeup" and poo-pooing someone's suggestion because it doesn't suit your idea of what a woman over 40 should wear...nah, not right.

My low-makeup days? Sparkly lipstick. And yes, I'm over 40. ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: RE: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

And again, I think buying makeup for someone who you don't know very well and absolutely know what they like and don't like is a bad idea.  I don't know a single person who could buy make up for me and get it right--including my husband.  It's so particularly to skin tone, likes and dislikes, everything.  Why not go with a much safer option when so many exist?

Re: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

@RedRoseGirl  Hmm, kinda tough.  I browsed through the Sephora site and not much comes to mind with not much go off of.  I would recommend going to TJ Maxx or Marshall's and putting together a cute set.  You can get a nice sized keepsake box and fill it will like a nice, soft bath towel and other bathroom related products.  They have a good variety of beauty/bath items.  A  bath bomb, salts, fancy bar soap, lotions, lib balm, body scrubs, hand cream.  Kind of like a pampering box  ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

L'OCCITANE - Holiday Almond Ornament

I would go with bath/body products and something yummy from Godiva. This little l'occitane ornament might be a nice idea, the almond products they make are luxurious and smell incredible.

WEEKENDS & CHOCOLATE - Holiday Bath Truffle Set

Or how about this set? I think it looks amazing! Probably something you wouldnt buy for yourself as it is quite a novelty and an unnecessary splurge but would make a lovely gift .. the price is great too. I think if you got her this and a beautiful card she'd be delighted.

Re: Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

Don't buy her skin care.  I'd be offended if my son's girlfriend bought that for me.  Yes, I'm older and have some wrinkles, but I would feel like she was either judging or making the assumption that I don't take care of my skin.

Buy a nice body set with shower gel and body butter, or something neutral like a set of lip balms or a set of mini-hand creams.  Those are things I'd love and would appreciate as a very sweet gesture.

And whatever you do, NEVER snoop through her bathroom or vanity to see what she's using.  If someone did that to me I'd toss them out of my house faster than a New York minute.  How freaking rude!!

Need a gift for the boyfriends mom!

I would get her either one of the drunk elephant or tatcha beauty on the fly skin care products
