I was waiting for the Valentino event (signing up just went live.) I just noticed on the email that the events all went from 100 points to 250! Isn't that a bit of an EXTRAVAGANT leap, point-wise?
@Harobedb I signed up for that one and am disappointed in myself lol. I just went through it in a hurry thinking it would sell out fast. Went back afterwards to read all the fine prints...yeah I'm not doing that again. Especially since there isn't any sample or anything. 250 is too much for me.
@Samtian I registered too but canceled the one for Valentino. 250 is too much. It used to be free.
I’ve been trying for months now just to figure out how to sign up for them let alone how many points they are. Every time I speak to a beauty advisor they swear up and down I get the emails but I’ve never got one of them. I just get emails about stock.
@Rileygreen13 @They usually post it on their IG stories if you don’t get the emails.
@rileygreen They usually post the direct links on Reddit. January's are listed here:

@Harobedb @Just a heads up you can’t post outside links. A MOD will take it down.
@Harobedb thanks for posting this, I didn't realize the points went up to 250 per event,
Extra agree, @Harobedb !! I'd rather not get Sephora branded stuff (although I enjoy a few of the things) to keep the points cost down. Like I imagine the shipping (especially to Canada) was a lot on those, but it should be ideally free or 100 pts and include a DS of the products being discussed. And I remember that the early 2020 ones, like there were so many prizes and now there's hardly any.
Was waiting for this post, thanks for getting in rolling @Harobedb .
Yeah, chiming in that it's too steep. I can't remember if they added Sephora branded items after charging points, but if you read the current fine print, you're not even guaranteed to get an item. Also, it wasn't that long ago these events were free! Like early 2020, when everything was closed...
@SephoraBIC Now with price increases, it would make sense to keep these events fairly accessible, so people are encouraged to shop. 100 points was already an ask, but it wasn't too terrible IMO if you needed point activity. 250 is a lot, spot on what @curlychiquita said.
@danielledanielleI'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers what it was like when Sephora was fun! When you got some real bonuses for making rouge...I barely crossed the border in 2023, and between Ulta, Beautylish, Saks, and Nordstrom, I'll be lucky if I hit VIB in 2024. I'm sure the poobahs at Sephora are completely indifferent to me, but if I'm sure there will be enough customers like me to make a difference in their bottom line. It's a shame...Sephora USED to be fun!
@Harobedb, I still enjoy browsing the site, but it's different too with this occuring and higher buy ins for GWPs. The experience in store, can't say as I haven't been recently, but I suspect that's changing, too. Changes should always be expected, especially if profits are encouraged vs retention, but this change is super questionable. Even when they were charging for events, they would fill up so quickly, now the links are still open. You have to spend to get points most of the time, and if I don't attend events, I'm not given an extra reason for shopping. Events are usually for new products/product demos. They usually ask on the survey afterwards if you planned to shop... Who decided this?
@danielledanielleI noticed there are still openings for the digital events. Whoever came up with this almost tripling the points was clearly someone who knows zero about customer behavior (let's not even talk about if they actually care about customers.) If somebody says "this isn't your mother's Sephora," they really aren't going to know exactly what that means, and how bad a reflection it is!
@Harobedb Joining the chorus. Heck, I wasn’t willing to spend 100 points on digital events. I’m dang sure not spending 250 points, especially if there’s no event-specific gift (DS of product discussed in event, for instance) shipped to all attendees the day after the event. Most especially if the gift is just a foil sample or two. Plus, some brands do free digital events themselves, or post free prerecorded “masterclass” videos.
I attended a few events when they were free, and some were much better than others. I enjoyed The Inkey List’s free event a few years ago (sheesh, doesn’t seem like that long ago), even if I disagreed with some of their skincare advice. I’d attend their upcoming event, but not for 250 points.
And let me add too especially when the brands digital event is because of a new product they’re launching and we don’t even get the sample of the product to try until at the very least 6 weeks AFTER the damn event. That never makes sense to me. Why not have the customers actually have the product in their hands so if we have questions, etc. we can ask them during the event. DUH!!
@Harobedb it's nuts, when basically they're just advertising a product or brand to you. Yes, you can learn techniques and such but you're pretty much paying to get marketed to. Unless you're getting a decent gift, I don't think it's worth it.
@Harobedb Yes, especially if, minus multipliers, it means you have to spend $250 to sit through a one hour virtual presentation.
Came here to say the same thing! It’s getting ridiculous around here!
