(Hi @malday, @michelleshops, @Anonymous, @Gwenhwyfar, @jemly and @candacebt!)
Happy Friday BIC!
Hopefully by now you’ve seen some of your friends in the community have been attending events IRL and (finally!) meeting in person. First, we had our launch party at Sephora’s Hollywood and Highland store over the summer, we had two palettes parties in March and now we have two more skincare classes coming up. (Pssssst!! Spots are still available in NYC next weekend!)
We’re interested in hearing your thoughts on what types of events you’d like to see and where. Would you be more interested in an issue-based event for something like oily skin? Would you like to do an like an in-person sample swap?
The possibilities are endless and we want to hangout with you so please share your ideas in the comments!
@pocketvenus@ It really was, and that was part of what helped me drag myself out of bed and to the mall at 8am on a Sunday 😭😅 Vote with your feet, right? It was the first time they had ever offered this class, so I wanted to help the numbers look good.
There were a non-trivial number of tweens and teens there with parents too, which gave me some hope for humanity 🏳️🌈
@fieldsofclovernice to hear there were some younger attendees too! 🙂 Good on you for getting up so early!! 😄
@pocketvenus. I love love love this idea!!!!! Particularly re trans/non binary people, Severely underserved community!!!!
Also LOVE the charity idea!!! Excellent suggestions!!!
@mermadelove, thanks, glad someone else is into it 🙂 I was also thinking, a men who makeup event could be fun too! (Including trans men or nb persons of course!) Also, I think any event for trans peeps should not be a "makeup to pass" event. Teaching someone those skills is cool if it's what they're looking for, but people should not be pressured into passing.
@pocketvenus@ It wasn't at all, which was lovely 💖
@pocketvenus Yaaas!!! Celebrating who you are, however you are, because only you can be you and we all have gifts to share! ✨💖✨🎉
@mermadelove@mermadelove❤️ Makeup is for everybody 🙂
Boston please !!! The Prudential store is so nice and very accessible for the whole city
@nche Yes! Toronto please! Im in Michigan and would say to do something at the Somerset location but I doubt youd ever do something there so Id be willing to drive to Toronto!
I would like a sample swap, how fun! Or random meet ups for new launches or how to do certain eye looks or something!
I vote for northern west-cost: Seattle or Portland! I'd be willing to travel for the right event - still sad I missed the community launch last summer! 😞
San Diego please😁. Please bring in brand reps and give us a demo on skincare. Like fresh, Tatcha, DE, Sunday Riley etc. I did take a skincare class in Sephora (San Diego) by Drunk Elephant brand representative and it got me hooked with the delux samples she gave to only 4 students in class.
With summer around the corner it will be nice to have a skincare class for hydration for all skin care types. And a mask party 🎉class is also a fun way to experiment with different masks. Makeup💄 using only 5 products to get a cute look within 15 minutes for busy people will also be beneficial.😃
Another vote for something to happen in the Boston area. I love the ideas about access to early releases, sample swap parties, and more extensive classes like those mentioned below.
It would be nice if some events weren't on Saturdays. It's a religious day for me, and so I can never attend anything on that day. Maybe once in a while something could be hosted on Sunday?
A class in Arizona - Phoenix greater area. Skin is tricky here, more dehydrated and is treated differently than somewhere with humidity. A class, with hands on play time, and geared towards the arid climate. Lead by someone who really knows the environment and skincare, no matter which brand..most people are transplants. Could include body care as well, not just facial skincare, and hair care for hard water.
Happy Monday BIC!
We are taking the FINAL tally today for event locations. Be sure to leave a comment with your city of choice by today if you haven't already!
Even if you're in a city where we have events your input is important in helping us decide where to go next!
Hi @KatieBT, I would love for a class that focused on the types of active ingredients in skincare today, what they do, how to add them to your routine, and how to use them together. Ideally this would be led by a skin care expert/someone behind the science, and not a specific brand rep. Sephora carries so many brands, I think a lot of us like to pick products from a variety of brands. I'd love to have a greater understanding of what works well together, what doesn't, what to layer, what to use on different days, etc. The types of ingredients I'm thinking of are all the different types of acids, oils, vitamins, etc.
I like that these classes have been held in NYC, but the timing hasn't worked out for me yet.
@KatieBT BOSTON please!!!!!!! I could hit the Museum of Science and Sephora! FUN TIMES!!!!!! And actually, come to thing of it WEST FARMS MALL in CONNECTICUT! OR anywhere near Hartford, CT! Much easier ride and I Could drag my sister!!!!
I think that you guys should do one of these events in OMAHA. Yeah, it's the mid-midwest, but we've got more than just one Sephora location so clearly there are enough makeup-loving people here to merit having multiple stores - totally enough to get a community event! ...Suddenly I've got a mental picture of farmers in pickup trucks arriving in full on glam makeup, SUV driving soccer moms giving their kids the ipad to distract them for just 15 minutes of peace and makeup/skincare sampling quiet, college students and 10,000 of their closest social media friends...
After moving here almost a year ago, I still miss some things about being in SoCal - mainly all the diversity in salads, 4 Sephora's and a SIJCP less than a 10 minute drive from my house, and the constantly present well-lit signage on the freeways/highways that are miraculously without grand canyon sized potholes. A girl practically needs a tactical military vehicle or a monster truck by the time Spring rolls around - just to get from point A to point B driving on the supervolcano crater-sized chasms on the roads. A pegasus might also be a helpful mode of travel...and vastly more comfortable than the economy seats on any domestic airline.
