mascara that doesn't clump or smudge

Hello! I've been using the better than sex mascara at the recommendation of a lot of my friends. However, I feel like my lashes look clumpy and I get smudges above the eyes, despite my best efforts to get all excess mascara off the brush before applying. Any recommendations for a mascara that won't clump or smudge?

Benefit Roller Lash and Sephora Lash Craft I think it’s called.

I don't care for BTS mascara much myself for the same reasons. the Sephora Favorites is definitely a great way to try several. I swear by Roller Lash from Benefit though. That is AMAZING!!!

I like Chanel Le Volume. The want has very short bristles so they don’t get much product on them in the first place so you don’t have to get off the excess. But every once in a while I do go back with a spoolie (how do you spell that) if there is a clump, which sometimes happens if I do more than two coats.

Hi @Deee25. You’ve received good suggestions already for different mascaras to try. One thing I would like you to also consider is that you may simply have a dried-out mascara, even if it is relatively new. That’s happened to me a couple of times, which caused me to ask “why on earth do people like this mascara?!?” until I realized it was clumpy because it had dried out prematurely. 

I no longer buy full-size mascara for this reason. I highly recommend that you get the mascara sampler set from Sephora Favorites because you’ll get the chance to try several different ones for a very low price, all in deluxe sample sizes that you’ll likely use up before they dry out. It’s a great value and saves me lots of money each year. Plus it’s fun to try out new formulas 🙂

I second this suggestion! I bought a Lash Stash kit last year and it was a great way to test mascaras. I enjoyed 3 of the 5 in the kit and still haven't redeemed my full size. It's a great value.

There is some tarte mascara that is really good.Or there is neutrogena healthy volume waterproof mascara I use

@Deee25 are you using a lash comb before and after to separate lashes and get the excess mascara off?

@Deee25 My 2 favorite mascaras that don’t clump are both by Benefit. They are the They’re Real and Rollerlash mascaras. Both are great for giving volume and the wands have their bristles semi-separated to prevent clumping! If you haven’t already checked them out, I suggest you do 🙂

Hey @Deee25! One of my personal favorite mascaras to use is the Benefit They’re Real! mascara. It stays on all day and doesn’t clump or smudge easily. Hope this helps!
